Good evening and happy new year to all, i read a link that said if you are registered disabled there is somewhere you can get help with a boiler repair, me and my partner are both blue badge holders so i'm pretty sure we would be entitled to any help, question is does anyone know who/what/where offers emergency loans for…

Private Diagnosis
A friend is considering going for a private psychiatric diagnosis. Does anyone know a psychiatrists that you can pay privately? The person concerned does not want to see someone on the NHS. To many bad experiences. He prefers private health care.

Universal Credit Work Group and Mental Health
I have been out of work for over a year due to my mental health condition. I am now ready to go back to work, however as advised by my Doctor I must take small steps (part time, only doing work I feel comfortable doing). I started claiming Universal Credit two months ago. I gave them my fit note and told them that I want…

PIP - paper based assessment
I applied for PIP at the beginning of December. I have schizophrenia and am detained under the mental health act on a community based order. I received a text from PIP this week to say that they have received my assessment. This made me confused as I haven't had an assessment. I phoned up and the advisor explained that…

Discretionary Trusts / MENCAP
Hi, we are just doing some inheritance planning... my daughter is mentally disabled and receives higher rate disability benefit - it's likely she will be on this for life. Through a support group we attend we came across a seminar on discretionary trusts run by Mencap which we attended. Basically the idea is that you pay…

Stairlift - means testing and costs
HI all, Sorry if this has been asked a million times, but I'm just wondering about the maximum costs of having a stairlift installed via my local council/social services. I need a stairlift reasonably urgently, and am weighing up the costs as well as the time factor (I hear it can be months before you get a stairlift via…

Sorry, didnt know how to write a simple subject..and its a long one... I've been working full time via a service provider (my employer) for almost 3 years in the same job for the same client (worldwide company). PIP Assessment Cancelled
It was due today but the assessment provider cancelled due to illness. The problem is my daughter will be back at school next week and it is unfair to take her out during her GCSE year. Every lesson is important, she is already at a disadvantage. They say some Saturday appointments might become available but can't be sure.…

Help with SDA and pensions
My father (81) passed away just before Xmas and I find myself having to sort out my mum's (76) money affairs, about which I know nothing. As far as I can tell, he received pension credits for both of them – something like £280 per week. He got DLA too and carer's allowance too. I've now cancelled all this by telling the…

Car Tax Confusion ! Please advise x
Hi everyone I’m due to get a new used car tomorrow and am entitled to 50% reduction in my car Tax. It says I need to send off a insurance cover note and the part of the log book that I need to send to the dvla. Now it’s gonna take a week probably to get a cover note back and the log book needs to go to dvla, so my question…

DVLA medical group
Does anyone else think that it is an injustice that once diagnosed with a mental health problem you are condemned to have this label forever? This has to be declared to the DVLA, who can then revoke you licence. Don't inform them you run the risk of being fined. The knock on effects- insurance costs double, frustration and…

Random payment
I’m on ESA (support group) and DLA. I received a random payment today, equivalent of one week’s ESA, but I’ve not received any letters. Has anyone else had this happen please? Any ideas as to what’s going on? I’m anxious, nothing can be done until after new year.

PIP - When To Reapply?
In July 2017, I was awarded PIP at tribunal for two years. Unusually, I wasn't invited to reapply in July 2018, one year before this ends, so obviously I'm going to have to reapply myself. How far in advance would people recommend I do this?

PIP questions...
Can anyone answer any of these questions please? 1. It says in the booklet PIP assessment booklet it says " Please tell the health professional if you would like to see what they're writing down in their report. Sometimes it may be easier if they describe what has been written" Has anyone ever done this? How did it go? 2.…

Backdated disabled child element
The tribunal upheld our case and we have just been awarded low rate DLA for our child. It was a a re-claim which ended in June 2018 and we were refused in May 2018. Can we apply for for backdated disabled element of CTC? Also the hearing was in September but HMRC lost or didn't receive the tribunal letter that gave the…

Jury service
I'm not sure where to post this thread but this seems to be the best place. I have been called for jury service but I don't know where to turn to for help with my disabled husband. He is physically disabled and he has aspergers syndrome. I normally care for him 24/7. I have asked to be excused the jury service but I don't…

PIP myth buster removed
Hello, I went to show somebody the myth buster about DLA to PIP (I still haven't had my PIP letter), and I noticed that it had been withdrawn. Does anybody know if there are any new articles of such? I'm a bit worried because the myth buster said that if you were turned down for PIP, your DLA would continue for 28 days…

3 month old Acorn Stairlift Residual Value Zero or even less
Be careful when you buy a stair lift from Acorn Stair lifts. My Mother purchased a curved stair lift from them in November last year No where near as keen to speak when I was trying to find out what to do with the stairlift (my mother passed away mid February) as when trying to sell an add on Maintenance contract. I am…
