Insuring your car for carers - limits on number of drivers
Which companies allow more than 4 or 5 named drivers on a car policy? Setting aside specialist car insurance for disabled people and any-driver policies, which are way too expensive, how do people insure a car for a disabled person with carers? I share a car with my daughter, we are both disabled and neither of us is able…

Is SMI only for one property - what is someone lives in two proerties
My brother qualifies for SMI disregards and gets it at one residence, which is 200 miles from his home town. However, he is often at his home town - a means of spreading the care across helpers and because he feels comfortable there. He has a second home, which has been the family home since 1950 (not always him there,…

DLA question?
My son receives DLA and has been given an award until 2025. He will turn 16 in 2024. Does that mean he will have to apply for PIP then or will his DLA award continue? If he does have to apply for PIP will he get a letter asking him to? Based in England, if that makes a difference. Many thanks, JAK

ESA contribution or income based ?
I’ve been on ESA support group for over 10years. The first 12 months were based on prev contributions and then I moved to income based. I have a small NHS pension which has always been deducted from any benefit. Therefore I was certain I’d qualify for the £650 cost of living payment, but no such luck. When I enquired I was…

Stairlift disposal
Hi all. I'd be keen to find out your recent experiences of disposing of an installed stairlift. I know I can approach the company that installed it. I know I could place it on eBay with the condition that the purchaser takes all responsibility for the removal etc. I'm, also aware of a company called 'Multicare' to who I…

Using Power of Attorney - what are people's experience?
(I'm not sure if I've posted on the right forum) In 2020 I registered financial LPA's for both my parents. To be used immediately if necessary, not just if they lost capacity. I foolishly thought it would easy to use when the time came. Get a code from the government website, send that code to the appropriate organisation,…

Adult Son on DLA - Worth Applying for PIP for Him?
My older son (with autism) receives DLA (mid care and low mobility). I applied for this 15 years ago, didn't make a brilliant job of it due to lack of experience and due to rules then, no chance of getting anything but low mobility - obviously things are different now. I have done better with my younger son (16), he has…

Hello - here's our story...don't even know where to start! Mum is in her 70's, had heart surgery many years ago. She owns a flat in Essex and has lived there for years. universal credit and small pension
Can someone explain this,- my son had to retire from the NHS on health grounds and cannot work.He has a small pension of around 5k a year but cannot get UC as the pension is not earned income. Anyone working and earning this small amount would be entitled to UC. Surely this is unfair?
