Crossrail
Do you think prices for properties on the crossrail route are already factoring in the fact that transport will be improved by the planned changes? I am looking at the Chadwell Heath area and it seems there is potential for good property growth given current prices.

Is it time to ditch our obsession with austerity and deficit?
This theme has been developed and disseminated as a part of neo-liberal economic elite, first by new Labour, then the Lib Dems and the Tories, but particularly in the UK, assisted of course by a near universally supportive and biased press. The purpose was keep the caps on real wage rises and retain exceptionally low…

A seven day economy
Listening to the proposals for the seven day NHS and finding my self nodding (despite missing Sunday closing) I feel the cat is out of the bag for community days of with Sunday closing hours and with economically active weekends in many spheres maybe we should extend this to all areas of the economy? Instead of expecting…

UK property owning families increased wealth by 20% last year - don't make me laugh!
This was a survey done by Lloyds Bank Private Banking, and it somehow managed to come up with this statistic. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/shopping-and-consumer-news/11606709/Families-20-per-cent-richer-than-last-year.html For the benefit of MSE forum readers I've translated it into a financially-literate form of…

New member (banned at housepricecrash)
Greetings, I've just joined this forum. I'll be reading and posting here from now I guess because my opinions were not extreme enough for housepricecrash forum. I've just been banned apparently (posts require moderation). I also posted a message in the "house price crash blocking posts" thread under a different sub forum.

Whoops - BOE downgrades forecast and backs up labours concerns
So now we have Mark Carney himself stating that the new jobs in the economy are disproportinately lower skilled and less productive. They have cut the growth forecast from 2.9% to 2.5%. Wage growth was also downgraded from 3.5% to 2.5%. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-32720772

Who should be the next leader?
Of Labour, the Lib Dems and UKIP? I wanted to ask this question, but didn't want to threadjack Gen's thread about why the Tories won. I agree with chewy re Chuka Umunna, I don't think he's the right person for the job. Andy Burnham is better, but he hasn't had a career outside of politics. I'd personally prefer Alan…

Do you hold net positive or negative assets?
I was amazed that the majority of the UK population (66 per cent) hold no positive financial assets at all – with the combined £9trn held privately in the UK spread between the remaining 34 per cent. http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/analysis-of-britains-9-trillion-of-wealth-reveals-a-deeply-divided-nation-10251573.html…

a friend just paid off his mortgage
Was around at a friends house today and he has just made final balance on his mortgage. He sat in a chair and was giggling uncontrollably for about 15 mins. I asked if he was ok and he said he was relived to be mortgage free and it was a release for him. I am yet to pay mine off - just wondering when people make that final…

The Effects of Conservative Cuts 2015-2020
Regardless of whether you are pro or anti the cuts what do you think their effects will be in the UK economy? They are to be about £33 billion after 2015-2016, the bulk of which will be in the first 2 years because of the election cycle. It would be great if you could link to any good articles you come across.

Who will win the UK election ?
Updated from betfair hourly ... http://www.electionwatch.co.uk Labour looking stronger ( and with Cleg talking about being more anti establishment than ever and with SNP aligned to help redistributive policies ) it's begining to look like a Lib Lab coalition is more possible. 1 in 4 MP's in Parliament is a landlord
This is an interesting article - I know its the Mirror (and old) but in my defence I arrived here via the BBC! http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/ampp3d/housing-crisis-more-landlords-parliament-5044990 With so many Landlords 'in power', with their own interests obviously in mind, can housing ever be truly reformed or changed?

Biased BBC?
I have to say I never worried too much about the impartiality of the BBC until this campaign. But I felt like there was more and more of it, and today I read this: http://www.bbc.com/news/election-2015-32661502 Entitled "How David Cameron's Conservative's Won It", it appears to conclude the following major points: It's…
