New member (banned at housepricecrash)

Greetings,

I've just joined this forum. I'll be reading and posting here from now I guess because my opinions were not extreme enough for housepricecrash forum. I've just been banned apparently (posts require moderation).

I also posted a message in the "house price crash blocking posts" thread under a different sub forum.

Why anyone would expect balanced debate on a website called 'housepricecrash' is beyond me.
    Anyway, welcome. :)
Don't blame me, I voted Remain.

Let me guess you committed the ultimate crime: suggesting that owning a house was better than renting?

I was banned in a similar way (posts require moderation) back in autumn 2010. It was probably for suggesting something similar.

I humiliated Bruce Banner, outraged the Masked Tulip, and befuddled Realist Bear. My banning was swift and merciless.

I actually don't even think I was too controversial for the theme of that site. I do actually believe that prices are disconnected with historical values and that is due to supply and low cost of credit. If credit tightened and rates went up, prices would plummet. Because rates are so low now, any move will be large in comparison and prices very sensitive to this. However, my opinion was that rates will be held low longer than people expect and that sentiment alone won't crash the London market. For this I was called a troll and VI. My guess is that insecure people who don't like having views challenged, reported my posts and the mods don't like dissenting voices. Here is my post from the other thread on this site:
Just a bump on this because I'm now one of the banned on housepricecrash (hpc). My username there was MarkWeston and I had the gall to suggest that prices may not fall 50% by sentiment alone. I joined HPC because, sorry to say, most other discussions on property are heavily loaded with those who don't examine the causes of house prices rises but only believe HPI is an intrinsic rule of the universe, requiring no explanation. I had hoped to have some more balanced discussion with the people there.

Turns out, HPC was no different, they believe HPC is an intrinsic rule of the universe requiring no explanation.

So a process of darwinian selection is at play. If you dare to dissent even slightly, you're banned (posts require moderation) so that the only voices you'll ever really hear there are those of the extreme kind.

So crashy time, damik, and whoever else reads this, enjoy your delusion of superiority. Because it is a delusion, you're no different from any other group that doesn't tolerate a different view, EVEN if that view mostly agrees with yours.

Also, many of them are just plain rude and unpleasant people.

I think it has gone way beyond laughing at them, surely they should be pitied, rather than laughed at. It looks to me (admittedly an outsider, I don't have that much knowledge about them) that they are completely dysfunctional, and don't fit in very well with society.

I've been surprised recently that the markets have risen so high over there for this reason, do you think that they have now accepted a forthcoming rate rise is inevitable, and it won't cause much of a drop to the S&P/DJ? Or do you think it will hit the markets hard? If so, it is hard to see why they can't see it coming. Personally I think that the markets will dip, but quickly recover, as common sense prevails.

There are some very sick people on that site wishing misery on home owners. Some even owned a house and sold thinking they could re buy it a year later cheaper!

That's HPC summed up - never today, maybe tomorrow.
