Average Mondeo man(young family) in London 2018
It's hard to believe but I failed to find any data on how an average Londoner young family live today. Many that I already know are from an older generation and are married which children in a semi-detached house. I am thinking what is the life of a young married man 25-35 who owns a Ford Mondeo and live in outer London…

Investment £100,000
What would you invest £100,000 into? And what would you feel is a good return a month? £100,000 I would expect a return of £1,200-£1,500.

First time buying and Brexit
Hi I am 22 years old and looking to get on the property ladder in the next year. I anticipate that me and my girlfriend will have enough money saved by around January at the earliest to buy a house but have been hearing rumours that Brexit on 29 March could affect house prices. Although obviously nobody knows for certain…

GDP small increase
Just 0.6% but in september/ october the economy is flat lining. Has spread sheet Phil missed an opportunity to inject some life into an economy that is ailing?

7x average income, topped out
The housing crisis in the UK is dire. Shelter reports that the cost of an average home is seven times the average annual salary. This is the top, it is ridiculous. Distortions always correct eventually and usually overshoot on the correction.

Interest rate rise?
Perhaps that rise in interest rates will finally come on Aug 2nd. Bloomberg seems to think so. The property market is already in a particularly stagnant phase, but will an interest rate rise next month be enough shift it into a new falling phase? No doubt, sellers will say 'No' and buyers will say 'Yes'.

London: To buy now or not
Hi all Looking for some opinions please! After keeping a close eye on local property/prices for the past few months, it’s clear London (or at least SE London) property prices are correcting (at the very least). On a daily basis, I see prices reduced on RM/Zoopla. Buyer’s market we thought. Perfect time to invest in a…

Salmond and Sturgeon Want the English Fish for More Fat Subsidies
And still vote on English laws. Well, it's worth a try (thanks to Shakethedisease for suggesting the title. Easily the least worst thing she has ever contributed to this debate). http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-scotland-politics-30708925 Cheeks. Fat, fat cheeks. He has also doubtless just spotted a pie. An English…

Will there really be a crash?
I'm in the process of buying a house and I'm seriously considering pulling out before the search due to the regular reports of prices going down and an impending crash. I'm a FTB and I wouldn't want to pay for something then it a significant amount of value in April next year when I could potentially just wait buy…

House Building everywhere, Can it Continue?
Do we need all these houses that are being built ? I am concerned about the new dwellings that are being built and not sold, There are loads of properties in the south east that have been built in the last year and are ready to be sold, but are still empty. Some say they are putting off buying until Brexit sorts itself…

Stay with your parents, or rent?
More young adults are staying at home with their parents while they save to buy, rather than renting and growing in independence. Which is best? Staying at home and saving, or having independence and renting?

House prices increasing nine times faster than first time buyer wages?
According to the IFS, house prices in England have risen 173% since 1996. Meanwhile, average wages in the 25-34 age bracket - the age group which has traditionally had the highest proportion of first time buyers and which is the most common age bracket within which to start a family - have risen 19%.…

Properties prices
How will HS1. HS2 and in the future hyperloop how will these affect properties prices in the north? Will they become stupidly expensive like London and the South East?

So, this brexit thing....sell now?
Bottom line we are in a lovely house that we have been renovating. Currently quite a lot of equity in it but we've also accrued high debts renovating (40k) which is frightening but manageable and we have spoken to mortgage company about remortgaging early next year as I've started working again and my income enables us to…

HTB could be scrapped amid fears it's helping the wealthy
Of course, it won't be scrapped, but having looked at the data, ministers fear that the scheme is helping wealthier people upgrade their homes and helping to push house prices further from the reach of those the scheme is intended to support. Many of us here told them that when it was introduced. Case of NS sherlock here.…

Another Federal Reserve rate rise?
Markets have pretty much factored in another 25 basis points rate rise tomorrow (to a range between 2% and 2.25%), which would be the eighth rate increase since the Fed started it's post-crisis cycle in December 2015. If they do, it'll be the highest level since April 2008.

Oil Prices
http://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2016-01-15/goldman-sachs-sees-oil-bull-market-being-born-in-today-s-crash Interesting perspective. As the old saying goes, "the solution to low oil prices is low oil prices", exploration dries up so supply falls, consumption/demand increases, and prices then rise. The question today…
