Will wording on gifted shares to a child, does it limit the trustee's options?
Hi all. If a will leaves shares to a child stating: "To <child>, all my shares and interests in any stocks and shares I own at the date of my death upon <child> attaining the age of 18." Does this mean that the share allocations must be kept exactly as bequeathed by the deceased until the child is 18, or does this mean…

Stamp Duty implications for inheriting property with equity release
My late father's property had a sizeable equity release mortgage on it of about £300K. The property itself is probably worth about £700K. I am considering my options of what to do. One of these is to get a bridging loan, after probate is granted, to pay off the £300K equity release mortgage, so that it buys me some time to…

Insolvent funeral debts administration
My wife's father passed away. There was no will. He had around £2000 which the bank transferred. This was used to pay toward funeral, utilities and rent but we covered some of this in order to allow the flat to be returned to the landlord. There are also outstanding credit cards and a parking CCJ. I have read that we need…

Splitting Parent's Estate between Husband and Wife?
I'm an only child, and my father passed away several years ago. My mother, who is about to enter into early 80's has some savings and a property overseas. Money owed to an estate informally?
I'm working through the estate valuation for my late father and can't find a clear answer on how I should treat money owed back to his estate, that wasn't actual loans etc. The IHT416 form seems a bit long winded and some of these are sums that wouldn't have been owed to Dad if he was still alive, so don't seem to fit what…
