Second Hand Trading
Hi everyone, I am currently employed, but exploring the possibility of taking on an extra self employment to boost my income. My additional income would come from trading in second hand goods. My question is, how do I declare how much I pay for items to re-sell? As the majority of this will come from private sellers, I…

Paying Tax on Secondary Income
I've got a full-time permanent job. I've also been offered a couple of pieces of work elsewhere, amounting to just over £5000. I notice I need to set myself up as being self-employed with HMRC. The site asks if I already have a Government Gateway number. I do but it's from a business I ran for a year in 2015. I have…

Is £50000 to £60000 promotion worth it ?
£60k take home salary is £3522 per month. £50k take home salary is £3038 and with child benefit (2 kids) this bumps it up to £3175. So, it's only a payrise of £350 per month or £4200 take home payrise. There are obvious costs involved in pursuing the promotion, such as stress and long hours. Is it worth it ? Any advice…
