UC & Inheritance question
Hi all. I have tried searching but haven't found an exact answer to this. I've discovered this week that a friend who has sadly passed away has left me some money from his estate. Not sure how much exactly this is going to be, but estimated to be in the region of £17-£20k. Now, I understand anything over £16k and you are…

PIP award
My daughter had her PIP stopped in November 2023, she had her tribunal heard on 16th Dec 2024 and was awarded the high rate for both parts, backdated to March 2023. 3 weeks ago I spoke, on my daughters behalf, to PIP, as it had been a few weeks and we had not heard anything. The lady on the phone stated, they needed to…

Disabled and on ESA/PIP - NI Credits Missing for the past 11yrs
I've copied and pasted this from the original post, for reference, the original thread is linked below from the topping up your state pension section. There are some corrections to info that was realised as the thread progressed. https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/comment/81234703#Comment_81234703 (Original…

Carers Allowance
I am currently helping someone claim carers allowance. They have moved from where they lived to the same city as their parents to look after them (one has dementia and one has heart failure). She has a job that pays her £500 a month and I've helped her apply for carers allowance. She applied from 1st November as that is…

AET
I've started a job that will pay me just over the current AET amount but if the AET rises in April (does anyone know how much it will be?) I will probably be just under. I have long covid which really isn't recognized and I struggle with fatigue so don't feel able to work more than I do. I'm over 55 and have a small…

Gifting money on pension credit
My dad 82 qualifies for pension credit (just under £4pw). He wants to gift me, my brother and sister some money. Since my mum's passing last autumn, his outlook on life has changed a bit but his anxiety levels are through the roof and he's terrified of being "in trouble" with the DWP and of being accused of deprivation of…

Class 1 vs Class 3 NI credits (JSA/UC)
For context: {Edited because I'm not sure it's relevant now I have an answer} My question is, what (if any) advantage is there to claiming JSA along with UC? Financially now it makes no difference, I know it's paid fortnightly and it gives Class 1 NI credits, but what difference will the class 1 credits make in the long…

Bank balance & UC
I'm worrying that because UC is paid monthly it might send my balance over £6000. I don't know how much I'm going to get yet but I'm used to fortnightly payments not monthly. I've worked it out based on if I get the same as ESA but obviously 4 weeks worth. Do I have to tell them if it goes over? Thanks

ESA Migration to UC
Hi, I've received the dreaded letter saying I have to apply for UC now. I am currently on income related ESA with all the disability premiums. I get £480 every two weeks plus full pip and I'm in the support group. Will I be losing any money moving over to UC or will it be the same amount. I'm single and I live alone.…

Hello all, I have tried looking for the answer myself before coming here but all answers have been AI generated and I know they aren't always accurate. I'm wondering if someone will be able to help with a query that I have. A few years ago I bought a house via mortgage and cover the household bills. My mother lives with me…

Inheritance
Hi, Further to my last post. I posted this in the savings board and they advised asking on here. They were of the opinion I'd be best placed using it for my mortgage and replacing furniture, carpets etc that are old. Which I could do as most of my things are old. They said Pay off debts but apart from mortgage I don't have…

Inheritance and lcwra uc
Hi, My remaining parent has just passed away leaving myself and my brother as the people inheriting. No will so it will be through Probate. Lcwra Back Date Payment
I called the Universal Credit today and asked them about my back payment. I recently got accepted on January 22. 2025 I gave my first five note in August 2022. The relevant period would to December 2022. This is when my first back payment should start. However she claimed that DWP doesn't pay more than 3 months back…

PIP Tribunal Representative
Hi, I have my PIP Tribunal Hearing on Monday. I appointed my husband as my representative when I submitted my appeal. I understand that a representative is often a professional, but can also be a family member, as in my case. I am autistic and struggle with verbal communication, so may need my husband to speak on my behalf…
