Real tough problem
In our office we can't view our own website. At home I can view it. The company who sold us the domain name says everyone else in the world can see it (used megaproxy.com). The company who host the website can see it and I can FTP up to it. If I use my laptop in the office and piggy back the wifi network I can't see it. If…

Installing Linux May Void Manufacturer Warranty!
Hi, Just a heads up on a interesting article I found. Basically last few days I have seen people asking about gettiing a refund of around £50 via the EULA refund agreement, where you can reclaim the cost of Vista/XP if you refuse the agreement on a New PC because maybe you want to use Linux instead. However it seems that…

Memory management in XP
I recently added an additional 512mb (total RAM is now 1gb) of RAM to my trusty PC. All is running well but I was wondering if there is anything that needs to be done to optimise the way windows uses it. I know that you can change the page file settings, but to what? Is there anything else that needs to be changed? I guess…

A scarey registery question
Having a few problems with the laptop. Things aren't running, some are crashing. When I get a chance, it will be a full re-install of XP. However as most of the errors seem to be registery based, according to Norton, and Norton can't fix them, but does suggest regedit. So go on, what do I do? Sample message from Norton The…

this EULA refund deal thing
Hi guys, Does anyone know if this EULA refund agreement (where you can reclaim the cost of Vista/XP) is the same for any manufacturer? I'm looking at laptops, and £50 off the price for not having Windows sounds good to me. I know the cases I've read so far have all been Dell machines, but presumably if its in the Microsoft…

New printer/fax wanted
I'm looking for advice on getting a new all-in-one colour printer/scanner & fax. I'm not worried about photo printing. I've got a HP officejet 6110 that's making funny noises after a few years & will cost £30 for a guy to do a basic maintenance job on. I was happy enough with it but not with the price of the ink. Usually…
