Recording 2 channels simultaneously

Options
I have just purcashed a Yamada Twin Tuner 250GB Freeview PVR and was told that it could record 2 channels simultaneously. However the manual doesn't tell me how to do it and when I tried setting 2 channels to record it came with a conflict message.

What am I doiing wrong or was I mis-sold the machine?

I'm not sure about your kit, but I had to flash the firmware on mine to enable it to record two channels.
    What model number is it?

Here is a break down on what your machine can do. If it varies from what you were told it could do, then you've been been misinformed.
I can't figure out if you can upgrade the firmware via a PC (like mine), but I'll keep an eye out.

I'd have thought that it was intended to enable you to watch one channel while recording another. Recording 2 channels at once seems like a big bonus and not the norm.

The cheaper version FVRT Twin tuner Digifusion 80GB Freeview PVR specifically states that it records 2 channels simultaneously and the sales guy told me that the Yamada did exactly the same and the difference in the cost was the hard drive memory.
Will ask whether ZAHC's suggestion can work. Otherwise I might have to take it back

Well there's nothing on Yamada's own website to say that you can record two channels at once, and I'd have thought they'd at least mention it as a benefit if it were possible. They specifically say it allows you to watch one channel while recording another. The Digifusion one does seem to be able to record two channels at once according to their website. So looks like you were misled by the sales person.

I agree, for what it's worth. For some reason, the cheaper PVRs can be more capable. I have a Techwood obtained from maplins for £95 (delivery inc) and it hasn't given me a moments hassle. Not that's likely to make you feel better. Anyway, check this place out for info... Click.
