Windows XP hangs when turning off PC

I seem to have got RSS (tennis elbow, whatever) and I am sure its from using the mouse on my computer. My boss has a bad wrist also from mouse use. Can anyone suggest a more friendly make of mouse that does not strain the arm/wrist as much. Is a cordless one better as there is less stretching?
