I have windows xp microsoft antispyare avg antivirus , do i need to turn off system restore then turn off comp and reboot in safe mode as i want to run a scan in safe mode. also do i need any other software to protect my comp. Thank you.

AMD 64 3000+ cpu - is it winchester or venice?
