Sorry if this is long winded, but I'm really stuck!
When I install a usb device into my toshiba Tecra (xp, sp2) the computer recongises it and installs the driver, but halfway through the computer makes a sound as if you've taken the usb device out (the opposite noise of when you put it in) and it disappears from the system devices list (despite windows reporting the hardware has been successfully installed).
When I put the device in again (it's a Yap phone - not well known, but works in my other computers ok) it beeps to say you've installed a usb device, says found yap phone, and then beeps as if you've removed it - all in about 3 seconds.
I had to delete the info from the registry and then it found the phone again (and I loaded a different driver) but exactly the same thing happened.
Has anyone got any ideas? Thanks in advance for your help....
