SLC - Confirmation of customer details
My daughter recently got a letter/form from SLC basically asking her to confirm her current circumstances as she graduated last year and they have no trace of any employment. So she ticked the box to confirm she is attending further study (Masters) and attached a letter stating that she had been awarded a bursary to cover…

Students in Kingston, beware of IRD Homes, Sunil Dhown and Richard Elby
I've been informed by a few students living in flats owned and managed by IRD Homes, Sunil Dhown and Richard Elby that they have had a particularly bad experience in Magnum House which they own and manage. Essentially they have only had 6 months tenancy in their flat due to a £100 or so pound rent increase which being…

As per the title, they've sent me an email, and said I should look in the "evidence summary" for what is needed. Only problem is, that doesn't seem to exist! Anyone know where I should be looking - I've been through all the other summaries (entitlement etc) to see if there was a link...

Asset Means testing
Great site Martin thank you. This is making it it so much easier to plan for a couple of years ahead when my son will be going to Uni. You mention that Grants and Loans are Residual Income tested, but can you confirm if assets will also be tested, such as Savings and investments or equity in homes. Thanks

Hi All, First post, so be gentle! I'm looking for some advice / guidance on the following issue. I have a Post-98 loan, which I began paying off in 2002, albeit slowly at first. For some reason my 02/03, 04/05 paymnets were completely missed, and some others were incorrect. After much trouble with the SLC and HMRC they…

Special Support Grant Eligibility.
Hi, This probably seems stupid to ask. The requirements for the special support grant instead of the maintenance grant are: "if, during the academic year, you meet the conditions for being a ‘prescribed person’ under the Income Support or Housing Benefit Regulations" Does it mean the actual applicant has to have been…

Hi, my younger brother is 17 and I'm fed up with his continuous wasting of money, I can't keep track of how much I give him because it's normally in small amounts like fivers.
