Uni Grants, Fee's - Really Confused & Really Behind!

Options
Hey!

Ok here is the story, I applied for Uni in late January, at this current time I have 2 offers and really pleased!
The thing is, I have not applied for any fee's or grants or anything yet, and it's just hit me that I'm really behind!
I'm hoping to get the course fee grant and the maintenance grant.
Where should I start? .. I think I should get this info from my college but if I'm honest, they have no idea what they are doing!
I just need some simple steps to start a roll on applying for the grants etc.

Also, just to clarify, I have not left it too late have I? :\

Yes you are VERY late and you will get no money for the next year.....

    Hehe only kidding.

    Go here and apply. :)

What course is it you are doing? Just want to make sure you are eligible ;)

BTW, the sooner you do it, the better.

"I'm hoping to get the course fee grant and the maintenance grant."

I'm wondering whether you're a bit confused. You only get a course fee grant if you're studying part time and you only get a maintenance grant for full time;you don't get both!
  • Haha Lokolo :P I'm doing Health and Social Care Degree :)

Ahhh, I think I used the wrong wording tbh, I meant to say ... Loan for the course fee's, and the maintenance loan .... :P I think that sounds better?

Cheers guys for the quick replies also!

That sounds more like it, although you should get a maintenance grant as well.

(Sorry to seem pedantic but people do get muddled about these things and it's just as well to be clear.)

    OK.

Are you living at home? If so, how much do you parents earn?

If they earn below X amount you maybe entitled to maintenance grant. om nom nom nom.

If they earn too much then you will go non income assessed and your application will be complete within a month (fingers crossed).

Also when applying, put down the uni you most probably will go to. If you don't end up going there its painless to change. I say painless, it might not be, but its nice to hope.

edit - omg 9999 posts! :/ I post too much.
  • Haha, wow guys you are super quick!

Nooo, It's good for you to clear up my mistake OW, thank you!

The thing is Lokolo, though I am living at home, I'm 21 years of age and worked full time 2006-2008, will it still be my parents income assesed?

And the maintenance grant is all new to me, but its a very interesting good new thing haha.

Cheers guys for all your help.

If you've been out of full time education and supported yourself (either by earnings or benefits) for at least 3 years you'll be considered an independent student and not assessed on your parents' income, regardless of whether you've lived with them or not.
