SLC - Confirmation of customer details

My daughter recently got a letter/form from SLC basically asking her to confirm her current circumstances as she graduated last year and they have no trace of any employment.
So she ticked the box to confirm she is attending further study (Masters) and attached a letter stating that she had been awarded a bursary to cover her fees and that her father and I were covering her living costs and she was receiving our money via standing order each month. The form did not ask for anything else. Now it has been returned as incomplete and they want a letter from us confirming we are financially supporting her.
Firstly my question would be why didn't they initially ask for this type of proof, I've reread the form and it doesn't mention 3rd party letters from sponsors, parents etc.
Secondly what sort of detail do they need us to provide to avoid another letter bouncing back. Is it sufficient for us to just state we are supporting her or do they need to see bank statements showing the standing order going out to her (don't really fancy having to send them)?
Thanks

The leaflet which would have come with the form will have explained what she needed to do. The form also says evidence is required.
She will need to provide a copy of the bursary award for the MSc and if you and your husband are supporting her a letter clearly stating that you are supporting her while she is studying. You don't have to say how much or how often.0 -
I recently received the same letter and additional form. I filled it in and stated that my parents were supporting me financially and sent it back. I then received the same letter saying that I hadn't provided them with enough evidence and then listed what would be valid.
Neither the original leaflet or the form state what kind of 'evidence' is needed. In fact, the leaflet to help you fill in the form is utterly useless as it just repeats what is on the form.
In addition to this, I went on the website to find out what is classed as evidence and just kept being redirected to application evidence.
I realize there was a number to ring but it is an 0870 number and there ought to be a free alternative to finding out this sort of information.
So now, because they could not include a sensible leaflet, I had to pay additional postage to send them their form back again. I included a letter saying they may want to rethink their leaflet...0 -
Squishee you need to have your parents write a letter stating they will be providing you support and include this with your form.0
