I am planning to apply for SLC, but I'm wondering if I am qualified for this thing, my parents were separated and I would like to know if whose income will be assessed, since they are living separate lives now(my parents).

Assuming that you're not an independent student (you don't mention your age or circumstances) you'll be assessed on the household income of the parent where you normally live. This will include the income of any new partner they may have.
  • As is said it goes by the household you normally live in :) whether this be mum or dad,. with their new partners or without if that be the case.

having been in the same situation myself its assessed on whichever parent you live with. if you live with neither then it is assessed on you personally. however, its a great situation to be in. you usually will get a bigger loan and sometimes a bursary (from education board) dependant on area and income of said parent. it all needs paid back at the end of the day but the more help you can get the better.
