John Lewis Quick Sale thing?
I've been reading the BBC news, and have noticed that a fair few retailers are having sales for a few days to try to boost sales. It mentions John Lewis on this. So I have been to the John Lewis site and it has a box that says "We are responding to a competitiors event" Which I can only presume was M&S, but I wonder if it…

Who does shop at Lidls and buys value products?
I watched 'Credit Crash Britain' yesterday. It was about the 'discount' supermarkets Lidl and Aldi. The implication was that only 'poor' people shop there, also that the value and 'discount' lines in Tesco etc are only bought by 'poor' people. I'm not poor - probably because I buy value! We don't have a Lidl or Aldi near…

Sunday Times wine club
Is it wrong to sign up for the introductory offer of 15 bottles for £39.99 plus free corkscrew and then immediately cancel? £3.11 a bottle seems like a bargain for Christmas but don't want to be lumbered with the whole having to reject cases every few months!

Discount Dyson vacuum cleaners, direct from the manufacturer
What's the deal? The Dyson website recently launched a refurbished section, where you can buy its cleaners with around 30% off standard prices. Since its website is one of the cheapest places to buy its products anyway (discounting occasional special offers from other retailers), this is a decent deal if you want one. What…

Why are Tesco prices going up?
I always buy Tesco value wholemeal bread - good value at 30p a loaf. Today, I see it's gone up to 40p - that a 25% increase! Then I go to buy my favourite chocolate Break biscuits, and they've also gone up from 74p to 88p - an increase of 19%. What's going on here. With petrol/diesel prices going lower, I thought prices of…
