In the fourth in this series examining the impact of the credit crunch, the Money Programme team investigates the changing face of food retail and the rise in popularity of discount supermarkets.
With food prices rising, the latest figures show that 40 per cent of us have shopped at a discounter. Masterchef's Gregg Wallace goes behind the scenes at Britain's largest discount supermarkets and takes a look at the business behind the budget boom and the effect it is having on the competition. He asks shoppers if they can taste the difference between the new cheaper produce and some of their old, more expensive favourites.
The programme looks at how, as we tighten our belts in a time of economic uncertainty, we are changing our shopping habits and asks if the way we buy food will ever be the same again.
I am watching it now; really interesting. HTH!!

Interesting programme...but then I've shopped at Lidl for about 3 years now, with top ups from Asda.
Hopefully with more and more people shopping at the discounters, they won't stat putting their prices up!!When life throws you lemons...put them in a gin and tonic !!0
