Discount Dyson vacuum cleaners, direct from the manufacturer

Options
What's the deal?

The Dyson website recently launched a refurbished section, where you can buy its cleaners with around 30% off standard prices. Since its website is one of the cheapest places to buy its products anyway (discounting occasional special offers from other retailers), this is a decent deal if you want one.

What does 'refurbished' mean?

Most items listed as refurbished will have been returned unused, so should reach you looking brand new. Where the products have been used before being returned, parts will be replaced to restore them to nearly new condition.

All refurbished products are tested before they're sent out, and in this case they come with Dyson's standard 2-year guarantee (1-year on handhelds), so you don't lose out on that front either.

How can I get one?

Check out the range at Dyson's online shop. The range on offer will change as and when other refurbished models become available.

We got a new Dyson DC07 from Argos for £149 last week.
  • Just looked at reviews and the DC16 and DC16 Animal (hand held rechargeables) only run for 3-6 mins from a 3 hour charge! One step at a time then, literally.
  • A brand new DC19 is cheaper at Argos, and you get a 5 year guarantee on all new Dysons, so why bother with a refurb?
  • I was told how to do this by a dyson engineer, apparently they do it all the time.To get a fully guaranteed dyson vacuum cleaner, all you need to do is to go to your local household recycling point, pick up a damaged dyson (model of your choice, and there is always a lot of choice) then ring the maintenance help line book a repair visit, the engineer will call and rebuild the vacuum cleaner to pristine condition for a maximum charge of £55 inclusive of VAT, you can do the same with the washing machines for £85 but these are very difficult to find.
The work carried out by the engineer is guaranteed for 12 months. et voila!!! a fully refurbished vacuum cleaner for £55. It works have done it myself.

Just checked this and the price has gone up to £65/£95, but could be a good deal:

"For machines outside the Dyson guarantee period or that have been used outside the terms of the Dyson guarantee.

Fixed charge service of £65 (inc VAT), fully inclusive of spare parts and labour.

    Washing Machine Service Tariff

For machines outside the Dyson guarantee period or that have been used outside the terms of the Dyson guarantee.

Fixed charge service of £95 (inc VAT), fully inclusive of spare parts and labour.

In the unlikely event that the Engineer is unable to complete the repair during the visit he will discuss the options available to you.

When you book a service you can expect:

A full inspection of your machine by a Dyson Service Engineer.
All required parts replaced as per the service engineer's inspection (parts and labour guaranteed for 12 months).
A full electrical and safety test.
Leave the site as they found it and dispose of any parts replaced during the service.
Easy payment direct to the Dyson Service Engineer by debit/credit card, cash or cheque.
Any accessories are chargeable and may be purchased online by clicking the link below or from the Dyson Service Engineer."
    I love a nice juicy "kebab"... ;)
