Anyone for CFDs?
I keep being bombarded by brokers trying to persuade me to invest in CFDs (Contracts for Difference). These enable you to profit from share price falls as well as rises, and avoid stamp duty. They also enable you to lose more that you invested (through the process known as "gearing") but you can limit the loss by putting…

One off share sale transaction?
Hi all, I have a share certificate in hand for 1500 shares at approx £2 each, so £3k worth. I want to sell them soon, but really wanted to do so without the hassle of opening an onlione account. Does anyone know if HSBC deal with this as an over the counter service? If not, what's my best option? Thanks for your time.

Should I take full student loan and then invest?
Good evening! i'm returning to university in September 2014, and would like some advice concerning investing my student loan. I'm very lucky - I will be given a non-repayable bursary of £20,000, as well as a non-repayable maintenance grant of approx. £3,387. I'll be starting with a relatively healthy current account too.…

Funds in mining, gold and other commodities
I've just moved an old company pension (the only pension I currently have) into an H&L SIPP. It's all sitting in cash at the moment and I'm just deciding where to invest it. Shares seem to be very high value at the moment and I don't see that lasting for much longer. I'm half tempted to hold off investing until it dips but…

Charles Stanley Direct - a couple of questions
When funding by monthly DD can you amend the amount online or do you have to ring / post out a new instruction? When funding by monthly DD is there a minimum 'top up' amount on funds? E.g. With Fidelity it's £250. Does they offer an online switching service on funds? Or do you have to sell then rebuy? Thanks.

AJ Bell Youinvest feedback
Like a lot of people on this forum, I left HL as a result of their fee increase and after a lot of research, decided to go to Youinvest (AJ Bell). Primarily because they were the only ones to offer some low cost ETFs as part of their regular monthly investment program (£1.5 per order) After 3 months, I am VERY unhappy with…

Virgin Saving - Recovered Interest
Hi there I have a couple of savings accounts with Virgin Money, which used to be Northern Rock accounts. Investment Plan
Dear Fools, I am looking to invest my mother's money for her retirement. We are talking circa £500k+. I am a fairly experienced investor and so most of the money will go into fixed term deposits, stocks and perhaps corporate bonds. Will look to have a balanced portfolio with a lowish risk profile. However the question to…

Increased Isa allowance - NISA
I know that I can increase my ISA savings to £15,000 next month and I would like to do this but only have enough cash in older ISAs which are now paying low interest. My current year ISA (Coventry), although having a good interest rate did not allow transfers from previous years otherwise I would have done that. Normally,…

What do people make of this?
The massive ideas in this video are mind blowing ! (if its true of course-cant see anything on hoaxslayer). Lots of downsides admittedly , but if it took a hold in US and spread, couldnt it alter way of life, and economies completely ? In theory if it could stay 'pure' and be used only for the good of populations , it…
