New savings account
Hello everyone :) New here. Quick question. I'm 17 years old, and currently have a cardcash account with Halifax. Can I open a savings account even though I'm not yet 18? And if so, which one would you recommend? I'm new to all this, and getting confused by all the different percentages flying round :p Thanks

Equity ISA Dividend Question
Hello All. I have a random ISA question that I can't find an answer too. I've just sold my equity ISAs and I'm wondering what happens to the dividend that I would normally be paid. Surely I'm owed something for the past few months since the last payout or do I forfeit it for selling the investment? Thanks Tim

savings for university fees
A Judge (in a divorce issue) has instructed that I give £150 month, for a 3 year period, to my daughter who has just started university. I assume that it would be best for her to use student loans etc and put this money into a saving account and repay the loans at graduation. Where would the best place be for her to invest…

MBNA Platinum 1.9% APR BT & Cash Back
Guys, I have the above card purely to transfer a balance transfer to a low 1.9% APR with no BT fee. There is an option to get cash into my bank account for the same rate of 1.9%APR. This seems too good a deal. I still have a BoS 5.65% savings account for 3 more months and was simply thinking of getting the cash into the…

New vs Established Funds
I've just been e-mailed details of the soon to be launched New Star European Special Situations Fund. Obviously this fund has no track record and I was wondering why anyone would risk investing in a new fund rather than an established fund in the same sector. On average do new funds perform better while they're relatively…

Technical Analysis Software - Recommend?
Hello I'm currently "educating" myself in TA and was wondering if anyone could recommend any free/cheap TA software. I'm not planning to do anything more than paper trading at the moment. Will not need realtime feeds, but would like end-of-day feed and good analysis tools but with ability to add my own indicators. Any…

Lump sum vs 'drip feeding'
I have had a bit of a windfall and have £2000 that I would like to put into an existing s + s ISA that I pay a regular £50 a month into (so I have paid £300 so far this tax year and will pay another £300 into this year). I don't know whether to put the whole amount in now or pay it into the highest instant access account I…

Unit Trusts and OEICS
Sorry probably a silly question, but new to all this. If I invest a lump sum say 1000.00 with a Fund Manager which is currently doing well do I get less for my money initially than say with a Fund which is not doing quite so well, but then does well. So with UT and OEICS is it the same as individual S+S in that if they are…
