Unit Trusts and OEICS

Options
Sorry probably a silly question, but new to all this.

If I invest a lump sum say 1000.00 with a Fund Manager which is currently doing well do I get less for my money initially than say with a Fund which is not doing quite so well, but then does well.

So with UT and OEICS is it the same as individual S+S in that if they are performing well and you buy in you get less for your money?

I hope that makes sense.

Thanks

You get less units when the price is high, you get more when the price is less.

But no you don't get less for your money if it is currently doing well, but then goes up compared to one which is doing well, but then goes up as well.

    a) One unit price is 50p. Your £10 buys 20 units. If unit price goes up 10%, to 55p, you will have £11.
    b) One unit price is £1. Your £10 buys 10 units. If unit price goes up 10%, to £1.10, you will have £11.

    No difference.

Think in percentage change, not in value change.
