Alliance and leicester premier direct

This is offering 6% aer on the first £2,500 of a current account ( for new customers and fixed for a year)if you open one and put in at least £500 a month. Is there anything to stop me transferring £2500 savings into it , paying £500 in monthly and taking it out as required over the month and topping up again till the next month? I cant find anything which says Ive GOT to pay in my salary

It's a current account, so try the bank account forum here.

I'n not sure but there may be conditions like you need to use their 'switching' service (to transfer your direct debits etc), or let them set up the credit from your salary. Check the small print or ask over on the other forum..

I did precisely that last year, with no problems.
They may have changed the T&C's now, so as always, read them carefully.

  • I have one of those which I pay £800 into every month, although as the account is limited to £2,500 (above which interest paid is virtually zero) it's not that great. £100 or so after a year ? I think the £100 upfront they're offering now if you open an account with them sounds better.

Nearly £150 if you can keep the balance at £2500 most of the time - nearly double what an instant access account is paying, and you can get the £100 as well. Also it's up to £2500 emergency spending money - right there on your debit card so no fees for cash withdrawals - which is earning good interest right up to the moment you spend it.

The £100 incentive is for opening a Premier Account not a Premier Direct account so no you can't get it as well.
But you could get £50 extra by applying via quidco or other cashback sites.
  • Is there anything to stop me getting both Premier and Premier Direct accounts?

I succesfully applied for Premier Direct today and I'm now looking for somewhere for my small amount of savings, and I would like to take advantage of the 6% rate they offer. Is this possible?

There used to be a limit of just one Premier [something] Current Account per person, but I can't find such a condition now, ask A&L to make sure. Also you would need to fund both accounts with £500 a month each, you can't just move the same £500 around both accounts.

@noh You're right. I was confused - by the similar names and by previous offers.

Only one premier account allowed as Eco Miser says.

I have to PDirect accounts. Applied online and they both are at 6%. I don't think they are that strict on the rule.
