I will possibly be offered VR in the near future which provide me with a substantial compensation. I will be taxed on anything over £30K, however I am informed that if i do not earn an income the following tax year I will be able to claim back some of the tax paid on the compensation. Is this correct please?

'Overpaid' salary deducted from my redundancy?
Hi there - new here, so please be nice :0) I hope this makes sense. I was made redundant in June. Fortunately, I've started a new job. However, my previous employer (a very large bank) made a mistake. For June’s pay you had received a full month’s salary from 1st June to 30th June as you were not made a leaver on the…

Redundancy Pay or Not?
I work for a large employer and my dept has been under review. Yesterday I (and 9 other colleagues) was advised that in light of this review I am "at risk of redundancy" as my post no longer exists. The review will be published today and then there will be a 4-wk consultation period before the final decisions are made (if…

Redundancy and self employment
I am currently lucky enough to be employed full-time and have recently started a small business at the same time a few months ago. Potentially next financial year I may be made redundant from my full-time job, this is my bread and butter that pays my bills, my self employment is running at a loss and by this time will…

Made Redundant after 11yrs service
Hi all, Today is the first day of my redundancy, and I know that I need to register with the Job Center etc etc, but there is a major issue with all of the answers that I have seen and that is that I need to supply a phone number for contact which is going to be really hard as I wear Hearing Aids and from personal…

Can a job offer affect my redundancy payment?

compromise agreement not going well
Hi folks, I wrote on here a few weeks back about negotiations between my union and employer about a compromise agreement. To keep a long story short, it still hasn't been agreed and now the employer are being reluctant about supplying anything other than a factual reference. As there were some issues with other colleagues…

JSA in Relation to Redundancy & Notice Payment
Hi, I wonder if anyone could help me. I was made redundant in February this year and I decided that I would not claim JSA as I could afford to support myself, and I didn't see the point of claiming JSA for the first 3 months of unemployment, only to have to pay it back anyway if I found a job in those 3 months. At that…

Redundancy
If you are not happy with the redundancy pool ie if you think someone else should be in the pool but isn't and you challenge this - what happens if your employers just keeping sticking to their guns when you think it is wrong. Can you take it further?

Tupe
My situation. We got bought out last year by another company, nothing changed except the owners. We have been told recently that we are being relocated to another part of the country, we will all be made redundant ( after consultation process etc etc ). The company who bought us own another company in the same sector and…

Work-from-home " opportunity" Oh yeah>
Does anyone know anything about some American scamsters called "breakoutincomes" who promise an (alleged) work-from-home idea----and have hacked into my email, sending me bogus messages from the addresses of (real, actual) friends--subject line "HEY", message "this sounds interesting, check it out" or some similar phrase…

TUPE query
Hello I'm currently in a departmental pool in the Civil Service. I've been told I'm a specialist and can only apply for certain jobs within that specialism. A job has come up but will be TUPEd in 18 months time which I'm not happy about. My union has said I can't be forced to apply for a job that will be TUPEd, the…

Redundancy Advice Needed
Hello, wondering if someone can provide some advice on my redundancy situation. We had a letter which I thought to be…

Opportunity of Voluntary Redundancy
Hi there Used this forum before and always found it useful. I've been working for my current employer (a very large IT firm) for 14 years, they are going through workforce reduction at this time and I am tempted to take it. The writing is on the wall in my firm and I would rather leave now when it is easier to find…
