Redundancy and re-deployment

Hi all.
I am struggling to find reference to this and just need some help to back it up, if it is correct that is.
I am being made redundant from a position as a supervisor and asked to step down. My role is being put into a managers role who will take up 3 other supervisor positions around the site.
Now, i'm still doing the same job just not as a supervisor and have been advised that i must continue to do the jobs i did as a supervisor but for less pay. I'm sure this can't be right as my position was taken up by a managerial role that was interviewed for.
Can any one point me in the right direction where this is "workers law" as such if it does exist at all!
Thanks for any help/advice!

How long have you worked there?
Read up about suitable alternatives.
Have they said your job is redundant and put you on notice offering what they are saying is a suitable alternative.
How much different are the T&C's(only pay from what you say) of the position that has been offered.
if not a lot different then this might be considered an acceptable change.
Think about what outcome are you looking for that will change the approach you take.
if you claim it is not suitable alternative then the result could be redundancy but might have to go to ET if they don't agree.
what aspects of the supervisor job were decision making can you just all refer them to the new manager.
All the people effected need to consider this together, even consider clubbing to gether for some real legal advice, check you insurances(like home) for legal cover.0 -

We had a 30 day consultation and was only offered to step down to a different position. We are on a general contract so was never on a supervisors contract.

Yes, only pay

Thats what i want to do, however everything that i covered like writing legal reports, training etc they want me to continue with but less pay. This includes training the managers up to understand what i did.

Good idea
Thanks for the input, Answered a few q's as unfortunately I’m off to work now!B&SC - 3370 -
What were you actualy "supervising".
What aspects of your job do you no longer do?
What was the consultation for?
redundancy/change in contracts or something else?
How did you(all of you) respond during the consultation to the proposals.
30 days is quite a long time to discuss the situation engage in meaningfull consultation, reach conclusions, if no agreement consultations continue or the company imposes its solutions.
Did any one go for the new managers post?
Bottom line is it will cost them less than £1k to pay you off.
How much is the pay cut?0
