Redundancy Pay or Not?
Options

Sukey
I work for a large employer and my dept has been under review. Yesterday I (and 9 other colleagues) was advised that in light of this review I am "at risk of redundancy" as my post no longer exists. The review will be published today and then there will be a 4-wk consultation period before the final decisions are made (if they haven't already been decided!). I am guessing that at that stage I will then be advised that I am now redundant rather than "at risk of..".
I was told by my manager that there will be new posts available, of which I will be given "prior consideration" for one of them. I will still need to make an application, attend interview etc for this post and there is no guarantee that I will get it. Other colleagues whose jobs are not "at risk" are being slotted directly into some of these new roles.
My question is, am I entitled to redundancy pay if I secure the new role, or am I only entitled to redundancy pay if I end up with no job at all?
Any advise would be gratefully received.
Thanks!

Redundancy payment only if you are terminated.
Untill you are on notice this potential new job is just the same as applying for any internal job so be carefull, if you apply and get offered it you may not be able to turn it down and still get redundancy.
Once on notice it will be a potential suitable alternative so things like a 4 week trial should be available.
You can say that untill the consultaion is over, your job is definately redundant and you are on notice there is no need to apply for any new job, yours still exists.

If the company has gone into administration yur partner will have to claim any money owed from the governemnt.
He/she should be able to claim 1 weeks redundancy pay for each full year he has worked there (provding it is over 2 years)
(1.5 weeks if he is over 41 years of age.
1 weeks notice pay for each full year he has worked (capped at I believe £430 per week)
Any unpaid work he has done
Any holiday pay accrued and not taken
Hope that helspmake the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0
