I have a queston, I have tried searching for the answer but to no avail. Is there anyone who can tell me who's responsible for listing my number with the directory services? Is it my line rental provider BT or my service provider Talktalk?

What am I saving?
Hi all, I am finally taking this money saving lark very seriously and have just signed up for 18185 (thanks to advice on this site) to deal with the copious mobile, 0870 and 0845 numbers I make. I want to work out what I am actually going to be saving based on a minimum of £100 per quarter that I currently spend on…

The International and UK CallCheckers
Hi guys, We are planning to revamp the callcheckers soon and wanted to ask for any suggestions you might have that would improve them. You can have a look at them here: * UK CallChecker * International CallChecker This isn't about call quality, as we say in the articles these are no-frill budget providers and sometimes…

Telephone Nightmare!!!
A few years ago I use to work for a local business. One of my jobs was caretaker and key holder (because I lived nearby). This business decided to pay for a telephone to be installed into my flat. They paid for both line rental and all calls. Then, when we had a change of senior staff, I was asked to pay for both line…

Caller display not working
I have a BT line and pay them for my calls which are few and far between. I use my mobile's inclusive minutes for nearly all my calls. My recent bill shows 8 calls all to 0845, 0870 or 0871 numbers. The bill is typical of the past 6 or 7 bills amounting to a couple of pounds at most. I have BT privacy enabled which incudes…

TalkTalk and 18185
I'm considering moving to talk talk for their good deal on phone and broadband. It's only £16 as we qualify for "free" broadband at our exchange. Great stuff! I see from other posts on the forum that providers such as 18185 aren't available on talktalk, but my question is specifically on whether it's posisble to ring their…

18185 won't/can't route 0845 numbers
I get a message telling me either that I have dialled a wrong number (possible at my age but not so in this case!) or that this is a call not carried by 18185. I always have to prefix the call with 121 on my Orchid dialler and put myself into BT's tender clutches. Anyone have any info on this?

Cheapest 2nd phone line
Hi I have a Virgin Media phone line & a BT box which hasn't been used but could be reconnected for free (I checked a few months a go when we wanted to change supplier). I now want to add a 2nd phone line for a home-based business and will probably upgrade one line to have free UK daytime calls. Does anyone know whether it…

Bt Charges
New to this site, so bear with me. Have been reading some of the comments re BT. What a bunch of rob dogs! I have just received my quarterly bill - 80% of it is landline charges and admin fee for processing last quarter cheque. What gives BT the right to charge me for paying by cheque - yes I know they want us to pay…

BT wrongly charged me for moving!!
I'm so annoyed!! Checked my A&L bank this morning to see I was £3 overdrawn because BT had taken £85 out instead of £40. I checked online and it said because I had cancelled services before the min contract was up but I haven't cancelled anything, i've just moved! So i rang BT and got through to a robot in India or…

Very bad BT service
Here is a copy of an email sent to BT today - I think it says it all! 3 years ago I decided that, as BT could not supply me with a Broadband connection, I would go to Eclipse Internet. The service they have given me has been excellent. Last year they offered me a new package of 8Meg BB complete with ALL phone calls for a…

Diverting VOIP calls to US number
I'm pretty taken with grandcentral.com. Recently bought by Google, it's a great way to manage phone calls. It's only available for US numbers right now, but I already have a work number in the US. I have the Orange Livebox at home here in the UK and am using their second line feature. This allows me to call the US for…

BT line without outgoing calls?
While I was at university I had a BT line which cost us about £10 per quarter and we couldn't make outgoing calls but could still get broadband. I can't find anything like this on the BT site anymore, is it still around and if so how? Last time I had to try three times as the indian call centre kept mucking things up and…
