Weekly Flylady Thread 15th July 2019
What is FLYLADY? Well, it's our version of the US flylady idea - but we work on the principle that housework is not fun, it's boring, can be time-consuming, is often thankless but, unfortunately, necessary. It's here on Old Style to provide the support we all need and to make the whole task easier and quicker. We also…

Organising a linen cupboard
A while back in order to give us some additional space to store towels and bedding, a cupboard was built over our stairs with the door on the landing. Though we now have a large enough space to put our items, organising it is another matter. There are only 2 shelves, both have good height and are deep, but not that wide…

Getting fluff off clothes after washing
When I say fluff I don't mean huge amounts of lint, it more like tiny specs but all over, if I just chuck clothes in a rinse cycle without liquid it gets rid of anything. I use liquid tabs in my wash. Just don't think it looks good to have my work clothes covered in it.

Jams, chutneys and the other preserves-anybody still doing it?
In the process of making apricot jam. I was looking (albeit very briefly) for some preserving threads and couldn’t see any. If anybody fancies a chat or could point me in the right direction would be grateful [purplesignup][/purplesignup] If you haven’t already, join the forum to reply.

How to get black lead off floor tiles
Decades of cleaning my wood burning stove with black lead has left stripes and smudges on the floor tiles around it. Does anyone know how to clean them up? Normal cleaning products, scrubbing and a steam mop do nothing! Thanks.

Lemon drizzle cake with mashed potato
Don't suppose anybody has the National Trust recipe for the lemon drizzle cake using mashed potato instead of flour that that has hit headlines this morning. Would be interesting to try and make it for charity fund raising cake sales where people are looking for gluten free products.
