This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Good morning g, dry but overcast here, it is meant to stay dry so I'll get washing out.

OH and DS will be out today, maddeningly though, I have to listen out for a delivery of some bread baking equipment for DS. Am hoping that it will come early so that I can footless about outside.

I've got a list of things I'd like to get done today, bet I get only half done but having a list is a good start.

My salad leaves growing in pots are doing well so far and the coriander is starting to come up.

No actual work this week or next as far as I can recall so I can please myself to some extent.

Hope everyone has as good a day as possible, thinking of those who are not posting and those who are worried or unwell.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back
  • Morning folks and thanks REDRUBY. Hope noisy man isn't too noisy today!

I couldn't get to sleep last night, tossing and turning for ages. Then this morning I slept later and now I feel like a wet rag. Bah.

I am meeting my Oz friend at lunchtime, armed with all my old black and white photos ready for a trip down memory lane! I still live in the town where we were both born and brought up, whereas she has had a more eventful life than me. They emigrated first to New Zealand and, when she and her OH divorced, she moved to Oz to be nearer to her sister.

I must keep track of time though as I have the 2 youngest DGDs for late tea/supper after their dancing and then sleepover. It's usually something quick and easy so probably pizza or toasties and some soup. So no prep to be done.

Have a good day one and all and ((HUGS)) for the poorlies, sad, worried or lonely. Plus our absent friends. Take care all xx

    Morning all

Thanks for the thread RR and hugs to all those in need.

Overcast here today and not much planned apart from changing the bed and walking the dog. I did a washing load at DD's yesterday and bits mostly dry now.

    Have a good day everyone.

    Morning everyone.

Yesterday my trip into town was short and sweet. I bought a pairs of wet weather shoes and at a reduced price too. I was surprised at how many shops had sales on. Happily I managed to resist buying anything else for myself. Got DM a new bottle of E45 cream as her skin is getting very dry.

I had to ring my power supplier to give them a meter reading which my cleaner got for me on Monday. At the same time I explained about being away from home.

My plans for today include going to see the Linda McCartney retrospective exhibition of her photography at Kelvingrove. There could be a wee coffee involved too.

TA - your day sounds fascinating. I'm sure it's going to be wonderful.

Hugs to the missing and sad. Happy Wednesday to everyone.

Morning all. We are decorating the dining room! The carpet needs replacing so best to decorate first lol. DH got the paint and stuff and a new stepladder yesterday.. We decluttered the sideboard and shifted the furniture around. DH has put the first coat on the woodwork. Today the topcoat goes on.

We will need to choose a new carpet soon and get it fitted we have a very important visitor staying at the end of this month.

TA enjoy your day. Gers have a good time at the exhibition.

Well time to get up and have a second coffee. Hugs and spoons all round. Enjoy your day folks.

    Good morning everyone :hello:

It's a beautiful bright morning here again but it's far too warm for me. Had a very uncomfortable night even with the fan blowing. Steve and Phoebe are in work and Lilly and Lee are still fast asleep.

I have stripped our bed and I'm waiting for Lee to get up so he can carry the washing basket downstairs for me. I have the cleaner coming for the big clean on Friday so I am trying to tidy away as much clutter as possible so she will be able to clean all the surfaces. Steve has to put some stuff in the attic tonight as well. Jemima is going to take a couple of boxes and a binbag of stuff to the charity shop for me which will be a great help.

I had a proper anxiety attack yesterday about getting rid of some old household items, not that I want to keep them but just getting somebody to pick them up and take them to the tip without fly tipping them. I phoned a couple of companies but they wanted so much money I was shocked. In the end I didn't know what to do so Jemima came to my rescue again and said her friend would do it and he would also recycle the furniture as that was his hobby. He didn't even want any money to do it but he is getting some whether he likes it or not! I am so grateful.

A nice easy tea tonight of chicken in honey mustard sauce and rice. I will try and persuade Lee to make a cake for dessert. He has just got up and wants his reward for helping me out to be snakebite lip piercings. Not my choice at all but he really wants them and he has worked really hard for me this week.

Right, I am off to make a cup of tea and plan my day. Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx

dumpling, oh dear, I opposed Chris getting his eyebrow pierced as a teenager but he gave in pretty quickly. I think he was being pressured by friends and was glad to be able to say that I wouldn't let him (I was always the bad cop and had the reputation among the kid's friends as being very strict).

We're back home, Steve has a scan this afternoon and I want to do the last of the cleaning before our visitors come tomorrow.

I couldn't get hold of Laura last night and was quite worried because she'd rung in the afternoon to say she was getting the horrible pain again, although it passed off. Brian is in LA for work so I was imagining all sorts of things. She finally whatsapped telling me to calm down because she was at her leaving do for work. I had known but forgotten so I felt a bit foolish. I couldn't go to sleep until she'd let me know ahe was home though, at nearly 1am.

Good Morning chums, another lovely day ahead by the looks of things :)
shame Jo Konta got knocked out but she will no doubt be back next year.

DGS Henry delivered to work at 0.6.30 as usual this morning and washing machines finished so that will be going on the line shortly. then I will pick up DGS Jack and take him to work then I am free until after lunch when I will take DDs dogs out for a walk then pick up DGS Henry from work at 4.30. and hopefully be back at my own home by 5.30 :) and another day will have whizzed by :)

Medication has been upped for my BP to keep the Dr happy :) but roll on mid August when it will be a nice relaxing two weeks on the IoW

Still eating down the freezer and slowly making headway and a bit more wriggle room in there I am really hoping to do a major defrost soon.

DGD Katie will find out this weekend from her scan what the new baby due on New Years Eve will be :) and DGD Holly has moved into her new house with fiancee Tom.
Apart from that nothing really exciting at the moment I will try and watch a bit of tennis at some point today and get my feet up and some knitting on the go :)

Hope all's well with you all, and <<hugs >> for those who are finding life a bit tough or are poorly at the moment

    Take care chums

    Morning all,hope all is well.

Yesterday I popped into town early to get some of that colour run stuff as I had a slight mishap with a white shirt belonging to DS2.It's currently hidden in the ironing basket. :o Wilk os didnt have any or HB so I've ordered some with my supermarket delivery tomorrow. Sat on the bus with my elderly Auntie's friend and neighbour and we had a good chat.He goes round most days for coffee but she's gone away with her daughter so I think he was glad to see me.He's in his 80's ,lives alone and his DD & SIL live in France so he gets a bit fed up,but they are popping back to stay with him later this week for a few days.

When I got home I started doing a big tidy up.We found a big box of LPs from the 70's & early 80's in DHs storage place and he brought them back ,so I've been going through them, we bought a music system with a turntable recently. They've survived pretty well - I don't think they've been played for about 30 years :rotfl:Just one by Abba that's warped, shame as it's got songs on DGD knows.Anyway I rearranged my cookbooks and have fitted the albums on the alcove shelves but am now left with things to find new homes for ;) The weather isn't brilliant so it'll keep me busy until school pick up for DGC.
Better do a few ordinary chores first though, and sort tea out,or perhaps I'll join you in a second coffee Gintot first :D Warm wishes to all xx

It's dry and sunny at the moment but there is rain forecast for later :(. Anyway I have got the WM on with some odds and ends in it and my fingers crossed that I can dry it outside.
I shall be pottering about this morning and then this afternoon I am going to to watch my DGD in her leavers concert " Stella the Starfish ". I can't believe she will be going to Juniors in Sept, time's flying and it only seems 5 mins since DD was going to Juniors .
Tea last night wasn't pork stir fry, as the meat turned out to be lamb and Mr fix It had to make a quick curry ! When will I ever learn to a) wear my glasses and b) label things . Probably not in this lifetime :rotfl:. So tonight will be a stir fry with chicken ......... I hope :D
Please could the MIA's let us know they are OK, you are all sorely missed.

I hope everyone can enjoy today, whatever you have planned.
    Take care all
