O/S Daily Sunday 14 July 2019
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need one, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Cloudy and wet underfoot, rain started at some time during the night, so laying water but it's brightening up as earlier it was very dark and dull. If it looks better in a while I'll peg the washing out.
DH up and off very early this morning - he's taken DS2 back. DS1 still in his pit, I'm on here enjoying peaceful cuppa.
Dinner tonight will be what we should have eaten last night, but DS2 fancied chinese takeaway so that's what we had. I'll do some food planning for the week and get pack ups organised etc. Other than that it'll be a chilled day.
Keep safe and well x

Morning all
Its very quiet on here this morning I hope everyone is managing some sleep.
Its a bit overcast here atm but meant to brighten up this afternoon we are having a bbq later so I hope so.
The beer festival was lovely yesterday but very quiet as there was a massive outdoor concert about five miles away and I think everyone had gone to that, it was nice though sitting in the sun with a few drinks and listening to the live music, very pleasant.
Onto today I have striped the beds and got that on a hot wash I shall hang it out later, OH will remake the beds later.
I have a few jobs to do this morning but nothing too strenuous and later we will take the pup out for a walk, maybe to the beach, she followed OH into the sea yesterday and actually swam for a while which is unheard of !
As I said bbq for dinner with lots of salads and a few new pots.
Right better get on have good days all xx0 -
Morning folks.
Bright and sunny here, outside is calling me to join it!
My thoughts to all the poorlies and sad and 'missing'.
Happy Sunday to all.0 -
Morning. Having a bit of a.lie in and coffee in bed. The sun is shining here. Not much planned for today yet. OH is in the shower.
All the decorating now finished. Just the curtain pole to go back up. The carpet will be fitted tomorrow afternoon. So we will take up the underlay tomorrow.
I am waiting to find out how dgs is as he has had a tummy bug since Friday.
Well I will love you and leave you. Have a good day all.

Morning folks and thanks NMLC. I doubt you will hear this again but - I SLEPT IN THIS MORNING!!!!!! I woke in the wee small hours for the loo and to open the windows wider and must have gone back into a deep sleep 'cos I knew nothing till 8.00!! It won't happen again I'm sure.
Another lovely start and yet again the showers forecast for yesterday didn't materialise, so I must water the pots this morning as they all look very dry. I don't want all my new plants withering away before they even get going.
Just had a WhatsApp from DS with a view of the blue sky and sea from their hotel balcony in Gran Canararia. Wow some view! They arrived safely last night and are pleased with the hotel.
I stirred myself yesterday morning and made my early trip into town for the bits I wanted. I spotted a lovely top reduced to half price so thought I would treat myself. It looks really nice with my white jeans
I am off to a performance this afternoon being staged by the younger 2 DGDs, dance school.. It's a mixture of all they learn - ballet, tap, jazz dancing and drama. All the kids have put a lot into the rehearsals so I hope it's a success. Our "Margo" has been chosen to do a solo ballet performance so I shall have a tissue at the ready!
Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) as always for all in need and of course our absent friends. Take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Bright but cloudy here this morning, we are forecast rain at some point, but OH has gone out and watered 'just in case'. We are off the DD"'s for lunch, so a bag of goodies to take with us.
I am pleased to say that OH is very much improved, no black outs which proves my point, he only has them when he is anxious or under stress. i e when he is in hospital and does not know whats going on.
I got very tired travelling backwards and forwards to hospital and also not sleeping too well, so have been taking things very steady. Cleaner is due tomorrow, so its bed change day.
No supper as such required, will probably have a sandwich and cake whilst we are watching !!!! and Angel.0 -
Morning all
The sun is shining :j.
Yesterday Mr Fix It took it in his head to cut back some trees in the side garden, so I was on "pass me that", "hold the ladder" and clean up duties. I think it has made such a difference to the light onto the patio, but are is still more to cut at the bottom of the garden
. I can't see it getting done this week though, as we have a busy week ahead.
Nothing much will be done today except cooking Sunday lunch which will be roast chicken, roasties and veg etc. Dad will be here later with his plate a la "Oliver" :rotfl:.
DGS has informed us that he is going to learn to play the cornet through the school music dept. Good job they live in a detached house . Mind you DD was musical, she played the piano, glockenspiel, clarinet and oboe so she couldn't object. ( my best tip to her "just invest in good earplugs for a while till he gets the hang of it " :rotfl: )
Righty ho.... must get on and prep the veg.
Hope everyone has a good Sunday. Hugs to all
nan xx
PS good news about your DH Csarina.Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently0 -
Morning, nothing much happening here. It has been raining and the grass is too wet for me to attack, it will just get mangled so am waiting for a better day.
Am making spare ribs, sticky chicken with dirty rice and salad today. I love summer but making a roast dinner is much easier.
Went out to feed the birds and along came 3 rats and scoffed the lot. Not massive big ones, medium size rats.
Hope everyone is doing well.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Afternoon all,
Trying to keep up on here, watch football from Killarney and keep track of the men's final at Wimbledon......getting too old for such activity!
Csarina.....glad that OH is improving.
TA......enjoy your show today.
Going out for an early dinner with cousin in a bit......would rather eat at home as lower. denture is still very uncomfortable to eat with....
