This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning all
Nice day here again off to work for me and dreaded Friday its always a hectic and stressful day !
I think I will do an omelette for dinner tonight with salad and a few chips for OH (I might have a few) nice and easy after a hard day .
The back hedge badly needs cutting but the birds are having a second brood and its full of babies so will have to wait a while.
Will put a wash on tonight ready to hang out in the morning.
Have good days all xx

Morning folks and thanks RR. Lovely start here but chance of light rain mid afternoon the weatherman says.
Late checking in again as DGD were up and at 'em the same time as I was and my lappie never got a look in. They were picked up for school 8.45 ish when I collapsed and enjoyed my brekkie in peace. There was one sad looking banana left in the fruit bowl from last week so I made myself a banana pancake. Lovely with some strawberries, blueberries and a dollop of vanilla yogurt.
When I get off my arris the dw is to load and left to do its stuff. Then I have the pleasure (not) of the Friday Tidy. I promised myself I would get a head start and do the kitchen yesterday after shopping but I ended up sitting out and reading in the sunshine instead!
Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) as always for all in need and hoping our absent friends are doing ok. Take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Good morning and Happy Friday,
Yesterday was uneventful as I spent most of the night packing for my 4 day trip back home. The plan was to leave work and drive straight up to Glasgow but I've remembered that I've left some bits in the flat, so I'll need to nip in en route.
I've a very busy long weekend planned, with a few different activities involved, so I need to make sure that I'm not overspending, which can be so easily done on lunches/dinners/events with family or friends.
Anyway, another NSD yesterday and should manage today also, which would take me to 9.
Blackcats - Thanks for the suggestion. I'll look into that.
meanmarie - I know, right?! Normal?! Their machines must have been out of kilter.

Good morning everyone.
The promised / threatened thunderstorm never appeared yesterday, the sun shone all day.
My evening out was so lovely. It was still warm enough to not need a jacket. The talk was really good, a gallop through the tea and coffee shops of Glasgow along with little detours of historical nuggets. After it my friend and I wandered along to a very posh hotel to drink a very large G&T. Fabulous all round.
This morning a nurse is coming to take blood from DM, after that, who knows! There's laundry to fold and put away (will skip the ironing bit as usual) and then I'll get myself out somewhere.
My thoughts are with those struggling. Happy Friday to all.0 -

Thanks for the thread RR and hugs to all those in need.
Blue sky one side of the flat, black clouds on the other.
Have a good day everyone.

Morning all, after heavy rain yesterday evening, we have sunshine but some quite grey clouds so towels are on the line but I'm poised to nip out and fetch them back in.
Had a lovely catch up with my friend yesterday, then went to do a bit of shopping. Husband did not hear me phoning to be collected so had a very long walk with shopping in the rain. He was in the garden, constructing himself a shelving thingy for his office.
I did the Friday Tidy on Wednesday so today I think I'll just avoid doing the ironing. I did some of that on Wednesday too so not essential today. I seem to spend an awful lot of time avoiding it.
Hope everyone has a good dayI was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Good afternoon chums I have the tennis to watch this afternoon with a big pot of tea at my elbow and my knitting on my lap
.
History this morning was war artists and it was really interesting. Only five weeks tomorrow until our holidays ,can't wait to get back to the IoW and some peace and quiet, and strolls along the beaches .
Sunday will be with my DDs for most of the day as its 16 years since we lost their lovely Dad and we celebrate his life by remembering all the good times and how he made us laugh so much bless him.
I shall make my lovely son-in-law a nice cherry and coconut cake this weekend as he is such a nice chap and looks after me so well, so a little homemade treat for him I think is due
Apart from that not much in the way of shopping required as I am making inroads into my freezer stocks to hopefully get it defrosted at some point. I literally have been only buying strict essentials for the past few weeks and its good that I am getting more wriggle room in the freezer at last .Some ....interesting meals from unlabelled stuffbut its all being eaten up at least and it means that I am stashing surplus cah into the holiday account a least
Hope everyone is Ok and those struggling get some peaceful days ahead
Take care chums and have a good weekend

No nurse came - I phoned the office and found there hadn't been a referral made. DM's GP is so busy I imagine she forgot so I rang the surgery. Monday is a local Glasgow holiday (Fair Monday) so I assume that no-one will come then.
There is blazing sunshine outside - I had to do a little shopping as there wasn't enough milk to last until tomorrow.
Time for a cuppa now!0 -
Afternoon folks. It's feet up time for me too, watching the tennis. I had a busy morning cleaning and in and out with washing each time the wm stopped. The first lot dried in no time and is now back inside. The thicker darks are still out but I have my eye on the weather just in case I need to dash out. They forecast light showers mid afternoon but no sign of any rain imminent yet, the sun is still shining.
What a nuisance GERS but I agree, GPs are so busy these days these oversights can easily happen. They shouldn't but sadly they do.
It's Good Samaritan to the rescue this afternoon! DD rang me from work to see if I was free after school to mind one of the dance teachers daughters. Only for an hour or so till DD has ferried a few children from school to her house for a rehearsal of the drama performance they are doing Sunday. Then my charge will be collected and taken there too! She's a friend of my youngest DGDs at ballet so she knows me by sight and doesn't have a problem stopping with me for a little while! I must pass muster!
Got a text this morning to say my friend was safely home after her 2 weeks in Mexico with assorted family members. She is now ready for another holiday she says!! The younger generation don't appreciate that us oldies can't always keep up to their pace of life!
A nice piece of smoked haddock is out defrosting for my tea, I will probably top it with a poached egg. A few baby new pots are waiting in a pan to accompany it, along with some salad.
Enjoy the rest of the afternoon folks if you can and enjoy the tennis. I thought this match would be all one way traffic but Agut has picked his game up a bit. Take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Hello all
Time has once again run away from me !
This morning we went to town to do some banking and then I went into Mat*lan as they had a sale on. I really didn't want anything but came out with 2 tops and a pair of lightweight trousers, oops. Not to be left out, Mr Fix It came out with a pair of lightweight shoes.
We met one of his cousins and wife in town too, so we chatted for quite a while as we normally only see each other at funeralsWe had to go for a coffee then as we were parched, but we managed to get one coffee free today with our loyalty card :j
This afternoon I put a load in the WM and it's nearly dry in the warm wind. I've also put 2 Get Well cards through our neighbours door as both her parents are in hospital ( they also live in the street ) Her Dad had a heart attack as a result of an unnoticed internal bleed and her Mum had a breast removed yesterday. So please send some healing vibes their way if you can.
We will put our feet up this evening as we are still aching from our flurry of work at Dads yesterday :rotfl:.
JackieO hope you have lots of lovely memories to share on Sunday.
Still no sightings of the MIAsNelski, Holly, LW, taff, OL etc ( appologies if I've not mentioned anyone MIA by name... bit of brain fog again I'm afraid
) Hope you are all OK.
Hugs to all
