This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning all
We had rain most of yesterday it finally cleared about 5 yesterday eve and we managed to sit out and eat which was nice.
Off to work today and I am working up at the other cafe as my boss is off and they have a large lunch party which she wants me to oversee, I doubt I will like it up there and will want to get back to my own cafe asap.
Dinner tonight will be some chicken kebabs and salad and new pots for OH, I wont have the spuds but will fill up on salad.
Need to sweep through the kitchen tonight and put a wash on.
Specky how did the date go ?
Have good days all xx0 -
Good morning, and thanks for starting SO.
It's sunny and cool here, hope it stays fine.
Yesterday we took some clothes over to the caravan, as everyone knows who holidays in this country, it's murder trying to work out what to take, though it'll almost certainly be a bit warmer in the south west. If there's anything we are desperate for, clothes are widely available there!!
I once had to buy a couple of t shirts when we were away because the forecast had been dire, and I had taken jumpers, and not enough t shirts. Hey ho.
We are visiting the hairdresser this morning, and then it'll be the usual Monday, taking Dgd to the craft sesh at the library then back here for tea. Between these 2 events there's plenty to do, as always.
Hope everyone has a good day.
Take care folks xx0 -
Morning all.
Damp and grey outside. I've put on the heating for DM and turned the thermostats down in all the other rooms.
DM managed a shower yesterday, her first in about three weeks, although she was exhausted afterwards. At least she felt better for having washed her hair. After that I did a washing load.
This morning I'm going out to get some M&S food for lunch as a visitor is coming. As they usually have sandwiches when this visitor can walk before she's happy with them again.
Last night I found the not-quite-finished bedspread I knitted many many years ago. It's dishcloth yarn and an Arran / cabled design which I'd like to finish but there's no pattern. I did a quick web search last night but no joy!
The stash of toothpaste is now in the bathroom cabinet ready to be used. The boxes of buttons and sewing threads are being taken by a friend who is very 'crafty' and can find good homes for everything.
I hope all those who are missing from here are OK. Happy Monday to all.0 -
Morning folks and thanks SO. After my good night's sleep the usual rubbish one was back last night. Thoughts churning round in my head and legs full of aches and pains after toiling in the garden. Bah! But at least the front garden looks a lot better since DS cut the hedge and I got rid of lots of weeds and cut wayward stuff back. Pity it won't stay that way!
Eldest DGD starts a week of work experience today. Doesn't seem two minutes since I was changing her nappy!! She will be 15 next month! She has said for quite a few years she wants to be a book editor so is spending the week with a smallish publishing company in the next town. She couldn't believe it when she first mentioned it and I said that's what my dad did!! Must be in the genes!
A few odd jobs planned for today but nothing that won't wait if I cba!! We are supposed to be having sunny intervals today and then a few days of showers from tomorrow so I am hoping to get an hour or two in the garden with my book later.
Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) as always for the sad, worried, lonely or poorly and, as usual, our absent friends. NELSKI, TAFF, HOLLY, OL missing you, how are you all? Take care everyone xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Good morning everyone and happy Monday!
I had a nice weekend which included a first date with a girl from the Liverpool area. In short, she was really nice, funny and we shared many of the same values and ambitions however, as was the same with the last girl, I wasn't overly attracted to her. I've been round this roundabout before, so I know that there's more to it than looks etc, so I recon I'll see her again at some point and then see how I feel.
You can all keep your hats tucked away.
Aside from that, my weekend was much of the usual. Gym, yoga, meal prep, tidying up, life admin etc. NSD yesterday was my 6th of the month, today should be another, too.
Have a super day everyone!0 -

Still in bed with a coffee. DH is in the shower. Not much planned today unless we decide to go out for the day. We nearly did yesterday but I felt tired.
I am relieved that there have been no more earthquakes in California. My sister who lives in Mexico flew up to their other home on Marina del Ray on Thursday and heatd about the first quake en routre. Then they experienced the larger one. No damage thankfully..

Morning all,
Feels like awhile since I posted but I have (mostly) been reading, and hope you are all ok.
The DGC have been here longer this week for 1 reason and another so DS2 is shattered as any free time he has had after work/weekends has been spent working on his project house when they haven't been here. Things came to a bit of a head last week after DGD 7 had been picked up early from school due to being sick. I minded her the next day and no sign of any sickness. After some gentle questioning she burst into tears & it turns out one of the other girls has been picking on her for ages.DS spoke to the HT who promised to deal with the situation. The class has been spoken to in her absence so fingers crossed. She did go back to school on Friday and seemed brighter when she came home. After the usual footie/swimming on Sat morning,DS took them out for the afternoon with other friends with children and we chilled out a bit by going buying DH some badly needed new jeans and a late lunch out.
Yesterday we went to look at water features at a garden centre for the job he is on now, and bought a load of herbs for a raised bed too - I quite liked spending someone else's money on choosing plants! The clients have gone away so he has sent photos of a few features for approval, but generally they are happy to trust him
Right better get on,as usual the house is a tip after DGC have been hereI need to get some washing out and make a loaf too, yesterdays has nearly all gone.
Hope those on holidays or soon to go have a lovely time x:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)0 -

Thanks for the thread SO and hugs to all those in need.
I've not managed to post for a few days Steve's not been well and that makes life difficult, we took Beano back to the rescue centre yesterday as they were holding a fund raising event.
Have a good day everyone.

G'day from down under!
Having a blast here, it's been non stop. The weather is a bit mixed but should be bright and sunny from tomorrow. Everyone here is going out with big coats on and I'm in a t shirt. Their cold days are about 18 degrees!
Hope you're all well, take care. Xx0
