Home made pelmet?
I have some nice black out curtains but theres a gap at top so they leak a lot of light out the top, I did test by standing on bed and put a quilt cover up and that helps in a huge way but of course its far too big. I do have a black shower curtrain, was thinking of cutting it up and using it to block the gaps, or getting…

Freezer door disaster. Ingredients challenge for you.
So, I came down this morning to find the freezer door not quite closed. Even worse, I was the last to open it so I can't even scowl at DH. :( I had to throw just a few things away and the freezer needed defrosting anyway so at least I've done that now. I used some bits and pieces up this evening but I'd like ideas for how…

Lemon Water : Hot water + steeped lemons : how long will this last once in fridge?
Hi I have made some lemon water mix i.e. I have poured some hot water over chopped up lemons and limes and then after cooling I placed the bottle in the fridge door with fruit left in to steep. I am concerned that I don't keep this mixture in the fridge too long i.e. will the fruits go mouldy or can the drink be left there…

Home Made Fudge - think of the savings!
I not so long ago started making my own fudge, mainly because it had always eluded me and frankly if I can't do something then I want to master it even more!!! :D So I've been dabbling with fudges for a while and forcing my not very unwilling neighbours to taste test batches when I have come up with a new idea... But it…

Os portions
I was looking at an old cook book and it had a recipe with four pork chops that serves four people. When I make pork chops everyone usually has 2-3 each. It got me thinking about portions in other things, and I remembered when I went to my granny's house in the 70s and we were allowed to pick one biscuit from the jar each.…

New Vegan Egg Substitute - Veganegg
I've just tried the new Veganegg egg replacer: Link It's actually really good - although needed more black salt to increase the egginess. I got mine on the recent H&B 'buy one, get one half price' promotion as I'd been put off 'til now by the price tag. I've only used it for omelettes and scrambles so far but am going to…
