O/S Daily Tuesday 28 March 2017
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need one x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Now getting light but it's foggy, so hopefully once it burns off we'll get some sunshine. Yesterday it was grey and overcast until into the afternoon, then it did brighten up and we had some lovely sunshine.
DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work and DS2 still in his pit, will wake him shortly.
Dinner last night was smoked sausage and mushroom pasta in a creme fraiche sauce, menfolk had a breaded chicken portion with theirs, tonight they will be having scampi, chips and beans, I'll be having fish, jacket potato and veg.
Work yesterday as expected was a manic day - although it did ease off in the afternoon, but we're expecting it to be busy again today with the customers that we didn't see/left because the wait was too long yesterday. I was shattered when I got in last night, it was another of those days' where it made your head spin! It's possible that I'll be working on Saturday morning too, I'll find out today if not for definite tomorrow. We're having so many unhappy customers, not even particularly aimed at us, just people seem generally unhappy/moaning/miserable - doesn't make our job any easier though! Had a chap that was really having a go yesterday and you have to let it go over your head, or you'd be finding it difficult to cope/manage. I did, however, manage to make the customers in the waiting area smile/laugh as we were so busy I was dealing with the customers and was up and down from the desk, collecting paperwork from the printer/scanning docs etc, and said to my customer who made a comment of how busy it was and that we don't sit still, that I should really be a size zero! I have never/and will never be that but I was ready for my dinner and a relax by the time I got home. I've got some great colleagues though and we all support each other and they made sure I was ok after my unhappy customer had left the building.
Keep safe and well x

Morning :hello:
Scampi had a fab run yesterday and I managed to distract him from a few squirrels. I keep an eye out for everything nowadays, I'm sure having him has improved my long distance visionHe saw something moving in long grass near a tree, shot off towards it, realised it was another dog so slowed down to a trot, greeted it nicely then came back to play with his ball. Good boy

I have 300 egg boxes being delivered today, not entirely sure where I'm going to store them yet, lol. The shopping is coming this morning too. So I'll stay local today and just potter about. I didn't get the patio done yesterday, mr tru was chopping up timber and has started constructing some sort of table or tall bench, not sure what it's for or where it's going. The patio will probably be clear later, if it is I might start my jobs out there – I say might because I've been awake since 2.30am so it's very possible that I'll be asleep on the sofa

Morning All
Rubbish nights sleep for me, I was still awake at 2 tossing and turning. I have a tickly cough and throat full of yuk, hope DD hasn't shared whatever she has had. I may have to take my winter quilt off as I was hot for a lot of the night.
I popped up to see DD during my break yesterday and took her some soup, she seemed much better thank goodness and enjoyed the soup, I think she just needed something put in front of her rather than her trying to decide what she fancied eating.
Met some friends for dinner which was lovely, they bought me some flowers and a nice bottle of gin for my birthday. Came home and emptied one of the little raised beds, I'm going to do away with them this year and have a proper garden bed instead as I can grow veggies up at the community garden.
Going to see Beauty and the Beast tonight, hope it's good! Have a good day everyone, take care. XX0 -
Morning folks and thanks NMLC. CAMELOT - DD and eldest DGD went to see Beauty and the Beast last week, they both thoroughly enjoyed it and thought it was brilliant. The two younger ones thought the Beast looked fierce and frightening in the trailers on tv and didn't want to go!
It's another miserable start for us but rain not forecast so not all bad! Being a Tuesday it's bus ride day, incorporating a late lunch out. Maybe Otley again as I like the little market and good selection of charity shops. Then backtrack to Ilkley for late lunch. I have some vouchers from our energy supplier which would cover lunch in Pizza Express if we fancy a pasta meal. What could be better than a free meal to round the day off!
Have a good day folks and (HUGS) for the poorlies, sad or worried who want one. Take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning all,
Dry and bright here, its nice to see dry weather the car park at work is finally drying out ! Off to work for me today its a difficult bunch of clients today so I expect it to be a long day !
Cheese stuffed chicken breast wrapped in bacon for dinner tonight wither with wedges or mash and veg will see how we feel.
OH bought the truck home from work and cleared the non burnable wood and the metal so the garden is looking a bit better, the other wood can wait till the weekend.
Camelot when was your Birthday ? hope Ive not missed it.
Have good days all xx0 -
Good Morning chums, another busy day ahead. I have a Drs appointment this morning about my hearing. I am slightly deaf on my right hand side and its been getting progressively worse over the past year. I'm not bothered about it, but I just got fed up of the kids nagging about it so to placate them I promised I would see my Dr.As I haven't seen him for well over a year I don't suppose my 10 minute visit this morning will break the NHS.
I also want to make a vat of carrot and coriander soup this morning to portion up for the freezer.
My DGS haven't got a clue about next weeks little holiday and how DD and I have managed to keep quiet I'll never know:):) They break up on Friday for two weeks and Mikey said yesterday afternoon when I saw him .'Oh Gran, I hate the Easter holidays its too cold as a rule to do anything, and can we perhaps go to the cinema or something mid week to give us a change do you think ' I just smiled and said 'We'll see'
:)
We aren't going to tell them until next Sunday night after dinner:):)
Tonight I am off to Rochester Library for a 'meet the author' evening with some friends of mine. They are usually quite interesting, fingers crossed
Hope you all have a good day what ever you are doing
Cheers chums

Morning everyone.
Weather has reverted to type today, grey and damp. We've had three glorious days which may well have had our summer!
Yesterday I took my friend down to the airport, left here at about 6.30am, for her flight home. Had to buy a few things, had breakfast in W and then drove home thev'pretty' way again. Once here it was a few chores, dishwasher and washing machine both going.
I'd been given a huge bag of venison on Sunday night, must be at least six pounds of meat. Yesterday I chopped it up into chunks and left it marinating in Black Sheep ale overnight, so I'll deal with it this morning. Browning off, onions and then along slow cooking in the oven - there's too much for the proper slow cooker and I'll need to use two casserole pans at least. The donor was given six bottles of wine yesterday!
This afternoon there's an SQA meeting for invigilators, exams here are in May, and then I'll have had enough.
Camelot - hope you feel better soon.
Happy Tuesday to all.0 -
RR - it was last week, I just hadn't seen those friends!0

A 4am wake up this morning has produced a grouchy, tired and headache ridden me!
Only a morning of work today but I must go to the supermarket this afternoon for a few essentials. I then will collapse on the sofa and do nowt I think. Well that's the plan so far, but you never know!
Right, more coffee required.
Enjoy your day all.'I'm sinking in the quicksand of my thought
And I ain't got the power anymore'0 -
Morning everyone, cold and dull here so my early morning wash load will have to dry indoors, rain is forecast.
I'm another one joining the poor sleep group, I was tired after a long day and working into the evening but didn't stay asleep very long. I have work to do at home on my laptop (which I finally wrestled into submission) and then working away from home this afternoon,. The risk is always falling asleep on the bus and ending up somewhere unfamiliar. It wouldn't be the first time either.
Last night's meal just for me was a cheese and onion omelette, I wanted mushrooms but alas, mushrooms were there none.
OH has just brought me some tea, I need to start work soon but I'll have that first.
Hope everyone has a good day, JackieO that is a lovely surprise for your grandchildren!I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Morning all.
I'm in a lather over my missing ring. I've turned the house upside down and I'm struggling with the thought that it's been taken. I'll feel so guilty if it turns up but I know I've not worn it outside the house.
House security hasn't worked out well. Side gate is locked but people are having to hammer on the living room window. Hubby will have to sort that the weekend. I'll need an outside the gate letterbox too. That's something else he hadn't thought through. What if there's a fire? I might be overthinking things a bit though.
Not much to do in the house today but I need to pop down to sort out Hubby's repeat prescriptions at the surgery at some point and make an appointment for myself.
Onwards and forwards
