O/S Daily Thursday 30 March 2017
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need one x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Now light, dry underfoot but looks cloudy but mild.
DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work and DS2 still in his pit, but will wake him shortly.
Dinner last night was pork steaks, mash, veg and gravy. Tonight I'm not sure as I got the meat out to defrost but it hasn't defrosted thoroughly - so may have to have a re-think.
I have all the normal "to do" list today - so will be heading into town to visit the building society and bank, then cracking on. I'm going for a spa afternoon, so I'll only get a limited amount done, but the what doesn't get done I will do tomorrow.
Keep safe and well x

Good morning everyone
I survived the visit to the dentist and it wasn't as bad as I was expecting in the end. He removed two teeth and filled another and gave my teeth a good clean. I took plenty of pain relief yesterday but this morning all I have is a bit of a bruised feeling so no pain relief required. I have to wait a few weeks now for my next appointment to do the other side of my mouth. Thanks for all the good wishes though, they were very much appreciated.
Well today is the day that DD14 meets her psychiatrist for the first time. I am panicking about catching buses but I am sure it will work out alright in the end. She also needs some new undies so we will pop into town afterwards to get her some. She is nervous about her appointment so I will be outwardly calm for her.
I have no idea what to cook for tea. I will have a freezer dive when we get back but I fancy chips after reading a thread on here earlier. I made sweet and sour chicken yesterday which was lovely even if I had to wait for mine to cool down to lukewarm before I could eat it.
The house is very messy again so I will be making a list and getting the girls to help get it straight. If we all do a bit it doesn't take very long.
Happy belated birthday Judi, I hope your missing ring turns up safe and sound xx
Have a lovely time at the spa nmlc x
Well I am off to jump in the shower and get ready. Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx0 -
Morning :hello:
dumpling Good luck to your daughter x
TravellingAbuela I hope the results were good x
You pop to see a neighbour and as you're leaving you peer left and right out of the gate to make sure no-one is coming. Then you remember you don't have the dog with you so it's perfectly safe to just walk out like a normal person :rotfl:
I've separated the egg boxes – they come in a stack of three piles, joined together side by side - they're stacked on the floor in the hall cupboard next to the dog food. Two shelves now belong to animals and I need to find somewhere else to keep the shredder
I was going to sort some things in the kitchen yesterday but mr tru decided to make sauces. He spent almost all day in there, took over the whole kitchen and must've used every pan and utensil, you should've seen the washing up  I stayed well away until it was all cleared up. And he broke the handle on the clean water tank on the Vax, the handle clips the tank onto the machine so it's now useless. Roll on monday.
The kitchen is mine today, no matter what. I have eggs to box up, a few things to find homes for, paperwork to sort and info to put onto spreadsheets. I won't be doing much more than that, my shoulder is sore so I'm going to be slow and careful today.

Morning all,
Looks to be a nice bright day in the making, I'm off to work where I hope its quiet, yesterday I was so shattered I went to bed at 8.30 and slept all night !
Something and chips for dinner will go and look in the freezer after this, I need to do a wash tonight too.
Mums gone away again for a few days, she is getting quite a gad about at the moment, she has gone to my cousin in Sandwich for a few days, it will be nice for her as we always holidayed around that area as kids.
Right I had better get on have good days all xx0 -
Morning all
Thanks for the thread nmlc, belated happy birthday Judi.
I really didn't wan to get up today as I was up for a few hours during the night, still needs must.
I have a load of washing to hang on the line and then I'll set off.
I need to do some housework when I leave wwork and then pack, this is the last time we drive to the boat so I need to take enough stuff for 10 - 14 days on board. Next week we are going up by train so we can bring her home.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.0 -
Morning all.
No sign of my ring. I've pulled out every drawer in the house, overturned everything and pulled out furniture. It's gone. Im just thankfull it's not my Mom's rings that went missing. I'd got Mom's rings soaking in bicarbonate of soda and vinegar trying to clean them up. That's how the rings got separated in the first place.
Moving swiftly on...it's my wedding anniversary today. 32 years. Despite our many differences I think we have worked out the delicate art of compromise (in some areas anyway). He's getting used to me chucking stuff and I'm beginning to accept his hoarding tendencies though I still chuck the stuff at a later date. We are well suited. No one else would put up with us and we are too old to change.
Grandson was hard work yesterday. He never had the terrible Two's but is making up for it now.
Guest for tea tonight. Not literally thank Goodness. He'd be a bit tough. I think hubby has taken our guest under his wing at work.
Dumpling I hope today goes well for you and your daughter. Stay strong, you will be fine.
Nmlc enjoy your spa afternoon
Onwards and forwards

Had a nice evening with older dd and sil who had to go to sleep early as they were supposed to leave around five a.m. to get to the airport.
They insisted I did not get up to make breakfast so I made some bacon sandwiches last night, wrapped them in foil and put them in the fridge so they could just grab them. Just as well I did as their alarm went wrong and they left around six a.m.
The hairy dieters mince plate pie went down really well, sil took a copy of the recipe and there are two portions that I froze and one for today's lunch.
Dumpling
Good luck with daughter's appointment.
A meat delivery arrives sometime today and I want to meet another dd in York for a chat and quick shopping trip but will make sure the cat (or furbaby) is all right before I go.
Hugs to all"This site is addictive!"

Good Morning every one, and what a gorgeous morning it is so far. I am looking out from my study window and I know it will be a nice day weatherwise as I can see across through the trees to the River Medway (a good sign as if I can see the river then its usually a fine day ahead) Who needs the weather forecasters
:):)
Good luck today dumpling with your Dd I hope all goes well for you both and well done on the fang man visit .You are really coming along in leaps and bounds aren't you.
Happy belated birthday Judi I'm sorry you haven't found your ring though and I hope you have a nice anniversary today
RR good on your mum for getting around, my kids are always saying I'm never home and its true I do have quite a busy life at times but life is never boring and I like to get out and about if I can. Time enough to put my feet up when I get too old to flit around ,when I'm around 90 I think:):)
This morning my gardener comes to mow the lawn and weed the bits that need doing ,then he goes to Dds where he will start to sort her garden out for her.I'll take her dogs for a walk while he does that as the little dog gets quite excited when Mick the gardener arrives, not aggressive just barks a lot:):).
Hope you all have a nice day what ever you are doing and the sun is shining down on you all
Cheers chums

Morning All
Overcast here, it has rained a lot during the night but dry for now. WM doing it's stuff and DW emptied.
I'm not going into work today, came home yesterday after lunch as I felt really rough, going to have a rest day today, hopefully I'll feel better for tomorrow.
Hope things go well for your DD dumpling - well done on the dentist visit.
Belated birthday wishes judi, hope you find your ring.
Have a good day, take care. XX0 -
Morning all, I have managed a blissful sleep and even went back to sleep when a noise woke me in the small hours.
Judi, hope you have a special day today as well as yesterday.
Tru, a shame about your OH breaking the vax as well as the mess-making, That would be very unlikely here as my old man does not enjoy a close relationship with cleaning items though he does like cooking. He bought himself a nice new baking tray for roasts and then scrubbed all the non stick coating off it, now I have to oil it before and after each use. This explains why he's not getting his hands on my new bucket but I am starting to feel that my possessive behaviour over this shiny green bucket may be verging on the OTT.
It is my short week, I have to go to chiropody later. I have some problems with the ancient feet, connected with arthritis. All manageable but today's visit is going to hurt, it is a brought forward appointment as since last time I have had two nails trying to be ingrown, one I have dealt with but the other needs professional attention and I have to not squeak and wriggle.
Dull and overcast here, the forecast is dismal so the towels will have to dry indoors.
I need to start the laptop up soon, it may be my days off but I think that a couple of supervises are going to need me to look at their work. Having the ability to work at home is a two-edged sword. At least I can do this remotely, years ago I would have had to go into the office and once I arrive, I tend either to stay as there is stuff to be done or to get buttonholed.
I hope everyone has a good day and that the Lost Things Fairy comes to judi's help todayI was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0
