O/S Daily Friday 31 March 2017

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning everyone

Hugs to those that want/need one x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Now light, very cloudy and overcast, cooler than it has been. Hoping to get washing dried on the line, will peg it out shortly.

DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 & DS2 still in their pits, DS1 using up last day of his annual leave and DS2 now on Easter hols.

Dinner last night was beef stew and dumplings, potatoes, purple broc, peas and LO cauli/broc cheese. Tonight I'm not sure but will be something that's ok to be shoved in the oven without too much fuss.

Had an excellent day yesterday - the spa was excellent and I really enjoyed it, next time I'd like to go for a whole day. As I was out for half the day, not much got done, I did visit the bank/building society, so today I need to do the food shopping first thing, continue with the washing, drying and ironing, shove the hoover round, and I must get some cooking/baking done this afternoon. So a good bit to be getting on with, I'll just do the best I can, I'm now not going to beat myself up every time I think I don't do/achieve enough.

Keep safe and well x

I hope you feel better soon camelot x

ancientofdays He wasn't even using the Vax, he was just moving it! I reckon he lifted it by the tank handle, instead of the handle that actually has CARRY HANDLE imprinted on it!

Yesterday he got in a strop because I wouldn't help him build the second half of the chicken fence. I told him days ago that I wasn't going to use my right arm for anything other than light housework til it was much better, we can do the fence in a few weeks. He went out there anyway and took the old part down then realised he needed someone to hold the posts in place while he hammered, I refused and he got stroppier. I sat down to watch an episode of Grey's Anatomy and he put up a wonky fence, which master tru fixed when he got home, lol. Then he asked me to help him attach the chicken wire (the fence is 6ft-ish and I CAN'T LIFT MY ARM!! Not sure how many times I have to say that!) so I ignored him and did some work instead.

The baby robins are chirping away merrily, they seem to be getting louder by the day. I haven't seen them yet but the parents have been busy going backwards and forwards to the nest all day long. Sometimes I stand near the back door, just to listen to them. There's been a pair of mating doves in the garden for the past few days, we get them every year. All the flapping about is very loud and it drives Scampi insane :D One of my girls is broody, she makes the most horrendous noise when one of the others dares to go to a nesting box to lay an egg. I'm wondering if someone is going to make a complaint about all the bird noise going on in my garden :rotfl:

It's raining at the moment, depending on which weather forecast I read it's either going to last all day or stop by mid-morning, lol. I'll start the day with spreadsheets then adjust what I'm doing according to the weather :D I'd like to take Scampi to the park on his long line this morning, so I hope the rain stops. Not sure about this afternoon, I'll see how the morning goes first.

    Morning All

    Happy Birthday Floss.

Raining here this morning, can't you tell the schools break up today?!

I'm going to work even though I don't feel too good, don't want anyone thinking I'm having an extra long holiday. We finish at 2.30 today so shouldn't be too bad. I now have a very snotty nose and the paracetemol keeps the skin soreness away.

    Hope yesterday went well dumpling.
Bet you'll be glad when Mr tru goes back to work tru?

Have a good Friday, take care. XX

    Morning all,

Dull and overcast here and colder too, lets hope the weekend brighten up a bit, we have a load of rubbish to take to the dump and a load o logs to split.

Off to work for me today and a quieter day at the other site which I am much looking forward to, I seem to be having more and more work pushed on me atm and I am shattered.

Dinner tonight will be hot dogs with corn on the cob and fried onions, nice and easy.

I must do some washing tonight but the rest of the housework can wait till tomorrow.

    Have good days all xx

Thanks for the thread nmlc, happy birthday floss.
The car is packed, we've been at work since 6:30 and I've managed to lose 2 rashers of cooked bacon that were supposed to be my breakfast, no doubt they will turn up when we unpack. I'll have to make do with dry bread and a pear.
    Have a good day everyone.

    Good morning everyone :hello:

It's dry but grey so far here this morning. I didn't get much sleep last night, partly through my mouth hurting a bit and partly because of DD14's difficulties. I am hoping to grab a nana nap later on once the girls have gone to school.

The meeting went very well in respect of meeting the psychiatrist. He was really nice and got DD14 talking about why she was there. A lot of things came out that I was unaware of and my heart is absolutely breaking for her. She will be starting meds as a matter of urgency and will be seen several times a week by him or the nurse who sat in at the meeting too. I am glad that there is help for her but I am so so sad that this is happening to my beautiful brave girl. We went into town for some lunch and a bit of retail therapy after the meeting but we were both exhausted when we got back home.

I will be concocting something with chicken thighs for tea, I have lardons and leeks in the fridge so maybe a casserole or traybake. I also have half a bag of sprouting potatoes so will need to cook them up today as well. DD14 is cooking paella in school as well so there will be that to fall back on (if any of it makes it home that is :rotfl:)

Happy Birthday Floss :bdaycake:enjoy your virtual calorie free cake :D.

Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx

Morning all, I have done some washing so naturally it is raining.

    Happy birthday Floss!

I now have bandaged toe, what a good look.

Today is a bit of house cleaning day, check laptop, do a bit of work and then relax or, more accurately, slob about with vacant expression. No real plans, and I can't think what to cook, am feeling uninspired. The freezer is full of things I can make meals from, cupboards contain all the ingredients I could possibly need, we have veg, all I need now is a spark of enthusiasm.

Dumpling, I'm glad that your girl is getting some help but it must be so hard for you both.

Hope everyone has a good day

    Good morning everyone.

Grey and wet here, such a contrast to last weekend.

Floss - happy birthday, hope you have a wonderful day.

Camelot - keep those germs to yourself! Get better soon.

Dumpling - so lovely to hear that help is coming for your DD.

My day is fairly unstructured still. I may brave the rain and go for a short walk after a spot of tidying up the bedroom. I want to change the bed linen on both beds but will wait until Sunday when the sun is due back out.

I hope everyone has a really happy Friday.
  • Morning all,

Footie yesterday was really good fun. Plus, because it was with work people, it was paid for by the company!! Then everyone was so tired we scrapped going out for food after it. So it became a NSD and I saved myself £15-£20.

Was knackered last night so came home to a light dinner and watches House of Cards, my goodness it's good.

No plans for this evening but I'm working tomorrow so I'll probably have an early night again.

nmlc - glad you enjoyed your day. Sounds wonderful.
camelot - hope you feel better soon
