Morning everyone,
Happy Birthday Floss, hope you have a lovely day.
So pleased to read that your DD is getting the help she needs Dumpling, so much worry on such young shoulders, positive thoughts are with you all.
Bit dull and overcast here after yesterday's warm sunshine, spent a lovely couple of hours with my friend, drinking tea and catching up on each other's lives.
This afternoon I am going over to see one of my DM's best friends, have been promising to visit for a few weeks so will be good to finally get together.
Have a good day folks.0 -

Well last day of March and Day 31 of Lent and I am very pleased at how the LFHW has gone this month and have popped a cheque in the post to the Trussell Trust with the cash I have saved from my food monthly budget by not buying stuff unless it was essential.
Slowly finding a little space in my freezer and can see the back of some of my cupboards now:):)
I am away for two weeks in April so not much food buying then either I hope:)
DGS Danny and his wife are home for 6 days from New York as he has business over here, and on Sunday we are having a family 'do' for him at my eldest DDs house .
So I will be making piles of sausage rolls (his favourite) and my youngest DD is making him his favourite cheesecake.
We will tell the DGS on Sunday evening when I take them back to their house that we are all going away on Monday to the IoW for five days:):) really looking forward to seeing their faces.
Yesterday youngest DGS Mikey said to me when he came home from school 'Granny when you look after us on Monday can you bring round your blender so we can make some milkshakes ?'
I said 'I suppose so why ?
'Well we don't usually go out much for the first few days of the Easter holidays and I want to make some milkshakes and also can you bring some of your cooking bits so we can make some cakes ?':):)
Little does he know we shan't be cooking next Monday morning:):)
This afternoon I have History club and we are learning all about the 'Mary Rose' which should be interesting.

Morning, ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one.
Lie in this morning, I did not sleep too well again last night, getting really cheesed off, it was after 3am before I finally dropped off only to wake at 6.30am.
Freezer audit to do. OH wants to go to Bingham tomorrow, so I might as well get what we need from Aldi. Will go either to Aldi or Lidl just before we go away as well.
OH managed to knock a plant off the window cill this morning, wet soil everywhere...aarrgghhhh.........I have left it to dry before I try to hoover it up with the tube from the Dyson.
No other plans for the day, its a fine morning, wish I had followed my instincts and put the washer on last night, it will dry outside, will look at the forecast, amy do it tonight and put it on the line before we go out in the morning.
Usual fish and wedges tonight, have some frozen mixed veg to use up, so thats supper sorted.0 -
Happy birthday Floss. Hope you have a great day.:)
Morning all,
Didn't sleep well. I needed the loo, then an hour later a hound needed to go out. By this time I was getting more and more awake. Some time later the other hound needed to go out. So then I just lay there thinking. Finally got to sleep just as hubby got up for work and the hounds have just got me up for breakfast.
Don't know what to do with the pile of mail that's been arriving for prodigal. The anger in me wants to rip it up or send it back but the Mum in me tells me he will be in even more of a mess if I do.
Onwards and forwards

Morning all!
I've not popped my head in for a while. I'm at the end of my first month with a budget, and after some sums, I was HORRIFIED to see we had overspent on our grocery budget by DOUBLE!
I have been using cash, withdrawn at the start of the week, doing a main shop split between Tesco and Aldi. I budgeted £110 per week, and did overspend on two weeks by around £10 each, which I used my debit card for.
So all in all, I thought we'd done pretty well on the grocery front. Turns out not so well! It appears that DH has been spending the odd £3 or £4 here and there on our debit card... Which has added up to £400! I can see it's definitely him as he travels around for work and the online banking lists the location of the shops he's been buying in. I'm pretty peeved as I consistently ask if he wants a packed lunch but he refuses, saying he has food in his work van so he doesn't need anything!
So today I am:- Finalising April's budget; am going to be more detailed
- Need to decide what's for tea as I have had to jig the menu planner round yesterday
- Arrange to have a parcel redelivered
- Put laundry out on line to dry
- Having homemade soup for lunch

Thank you for all the birthday wishes and cake
DH has bought me some lovely gifts including tickets to a Paul McCartney tribute show tonight, with a meal out beforehand so no cooking for me today!
Am just enjoying my weekly Caffe Nero treat, and myself and another mature lady both admired and commented on the proper pram that a young woman was pushing, c/w 4-week old baby girl, that it was so lovely to see a comfy cosy baby. Then I sat down and realised next to me was a woman with a baby car seat on wheels with her tiny baby in2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

Happy birthday Floss.
Dumpling, I'm glad your DD is getting the help she needs. Well done for being able to go with her to support her.
JackieO HoC is well worth watching but with recent events in the US it may not seem very far-fetched.
Hester, you asked about drawer lining on your blog. I just wanted to say that if you haven't found anything I've got a roll of non-slip lining I bought in Lidl ages ago and no longer need. If you are stopping anywhere near MK on your journey and still need it I can bring it across.
We are in Yorkshire today and went up to the local station to see the Flying Scotsman. It stops there for about half an hour to take on water so we got a good close up view. The Settle-Carlisle line is re-opening today after repairs to a landslip.
DH is working but we may go into Skipton later and have a wander through the woods, I'm not up to a long walk atm.0 -
Morning all (just)
Having a bad day here as woke up with a headache and feeling sick. Made myself a cup of tea and finished off the milk, so on putting the milk carton into the recycling, I somehow managed to fall over the back door step . Didn't hurt myself too much, although I took the skin off my right palm and I think I will be bruised all down my right side by tomorrow, but I was quite shaken up. So my clothes are now in the washer as the floor outside was wet. Still don't know how I did it as I have been going over that step for the last 30 years!
Floss have a very Happy Birthday
NMLC glad you enjoyed your spa day
Well washer has finished, so will try to hang it out without falling over :rotfl:
Anyway hugs to all those who wants/needs one.Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently0 -

Csarina does your OH not clean up if he makes a mess? I would (and have at times) just left DH's mess for him to sort, and worked around it if necessary, and my dad trained my brothers as I trained my boys to clear up after themselves!2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

You must be joking Floss, he just walked away......it would still have been there now if I had not sorted it out. Mummy's boy through and through............have my suspicions about wiped bottoms at times:D:D:eek: I know she nursed him through Rheumatic fever, he was bed bound for 2 years, had to learn to walk again. I do make him clear up, but in this case it was wet soil and I know from experience that it would have ended up ground in to both the floor and the Dyson.
Really cross I did not do the washing last night, its a lovely afternoon and it would have dried.
Just waiting for a loaf to finish. Freezer audit done and shopping list ready for the morning. Would not usually go on Saturday but OH wants more pegs for the weed suppressant from the ironmongers.0
