O/S Daily Wednesday 29 March 2017
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need one x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Now getting light, wet underfoot from rain during the night, but milder.
DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work and DS2 still in his pit, will wake him shortly.
Dinner last night was scampi, chips/jacket potato, beans/veg for the menfolk, I had fish, jacket potato and veg. I remembered to get the pork steaks out of the freezer to defrost, so tonight we will be having pork, mash, veg and gravy.
Work yesterday wasn't as busy as expected but steady - so who know's what today will bring. Working all day as doing the extra hours this afternoon, I'm also working on Saturday morning, they needed an extra person due to it being the 1st April, so I'm working, don't know why I said I would as I worked last Sat and am working Easter Sat as tried to swap but with it being a holiday weekend no-one wanted to, which is understandable. My extra hours were due to finish on 31 March but they are continuing for all of April and into May - we did tell them that there wasn't going to be enough staff under the new structure - we'll see.
Keep safe and well x

Good morning everyone :hello:
Thank you nmlc for starting the thread.
It's still dark but forecast to be a wet day today. I am off to Exeter this morning to have 3 of my teeth taken out and a couple of fillings. I didn't sleep much last night and today my tum feels full of butterflies. I am looking forward to not having toothache though so it will be worth it.
DD14 has her appointment with the psychiatrist tomorrow. It's a bit of unfortunate timing really but I have already had to cancel one appointment because of going to the dentist today. She says she feels calm about it for the moment. I hope they will be able to help her.
I can't imagine I will be eating much today but I am going to cook for everyone else tonight. I have taken some chicken out and will just cook it with some honey and mustard sauce and serve it with rice. Quick and easy.
I hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx0 -
Morning All
Damp and miserable this morning, I think we have had our summer! Washing on the airer and DW emptied.
Not feeling too good, lack of sleep from this tickly throat and a sore head. Still, only 3 days until 2 weeks off.
Went to see Beauty and the Beast, I wasn't really impressed, preferred the old one. I'm not keen on a mix of cartoon and real characters.
Good luck for today dumpling, and for your DD tomorrow.
Not long until your break JackieO, the boys will be so pleased.
Happy Wednesday, take care. XX0 -
Good morning and thank you for starting off nmlc.
Dumpling, hope all goes well for you today, it will soon be over. And best wishes for your daughter tomorrow,.
My OH seems to have forgotten to buy teabags, though there is a massive amount of horrible green tea that he likes. I am going to reuse my teabag for a second cup and must remember to pick some up while out and about. He has shopped twice this week too, the big shop at Mr M and a small shop, mostly for a crusty loaf and some tomatoes at L*dL. He could have hidden the tea but I doubt it.
Weather forecast is dire, washing can wait.
I am going to experiment with teabag reuse and then go to work. Am so glad that this is my short week, am turning into a right lightweight, looking forward to the weekend.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Morning folks and thanks NMLC. I hope all goes well today DUMPLING with the extractions.
We've had overnight rain and it's forecast to go on most of the day too. But at least it's mild!
Mr TA's appt today at the Musculo Skeletal Clinic for the result of his spinal scan. Of course I am worrying. He has more than enough problems as it is without yet another one to worry about.
JUDI I hope your ring turns up. You may, or may not, remember my wedding ring went missing about 18 months ago. As we had been here, there and everywhere that weekend it could have been anywhere. Nevertheless I turned the house upside down just in case. to no avail. Then, about 4 months later, when tidying the garden after winter, I found it just laying in the back garden! I couldn't believe my eyes! So the moral of the story is don't give up hope just yet.
We had a lovely day out yesterday and I came back weighted down with fruit and veg from Otley market. Including 2 big punnets of strawberries for £1.50. Sampled a few last night and really tasty they were too.
Other than toasted sarnies for supper, yesterday was a no cooking day as we had enjoyed a lovely late lunch out. Today I must show willing, get something from the freezer and sort out a meal plan for the day.
Have a nice day folks and (HUGS) for the poorlies, sad or worried who want them. Take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Update
Reusing teabag results in horrible tea, not doing that again.
And now it is raining.
Insert swearword of your choice here.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Morning everyone.
Grey skies here with the promise of rain. Much more typical west coast weather.
Camelot - sorry to hear you're still not well. Obviously the gargle didn't work!
Dumpling - hope all goes well for you today.
My cookathon yesterday was good, all the venison is cooked and portioned up. I did some banking and paid my council tax bill. I had an accident in the kitchen and broke a glass chopping board, no idea what happened but it was in thousands of bits, luckily it was safety glass.
This morning I'm teaching, only got tomorrow and then two week break.
I wish everyone a happy Wednesday.0 -
Morning all,
Colder here again this morning but its brightened up lovely in the afternoons.
OH came home with more huge bits of tree last night which are now stacked up in the garden ready for chopping this weekend, it will need seasoning but its free wood, there might be a load more he can get too :j
Spag bol for dinner tonight, DD got meetings in Crawley today so I can keep hers warm if necessary.
I need to do a wash tonight and have a clean through, gardener coming Monday to do the lawn, its desperate for a cut.
Right better get on have good days all xx0 -
Morning all
Knackered here.
We got a phone call last night, one of Captain Hot Stuff's colleagues broke an out side door and couldn't lock it! There was a stone in the channel at the bottom, it often happens, but instead of brushing the stone out he smashed the door hinge and lock to pieces!
We went up to sort it out so the site was secure overnight.
Have a lovely day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.0 -

ancientofdays I always reuse teabags but only for myself. You have to leave it soaking for about five minutes then squeeze the teabag hard against the side of the mug a couple of times for maximum flavourThe other trus have tea so strong that I doubt there's any flavour left after one go
Some people think its gross but in a cafe, they'll top up the teapot with a jug of hot water and think that's OK, I don't see the difference myself :undecided
Something happened which feels completely the wrong way round – a dog owner apologised to me!! We were out for a walk and went past Yappy Dog House down the road, all three dogs were in the front garden and they rushed to the fence, yapping away. Scampi stiffened up then quickly relaxed, turned around to face me and sat down - “treat please?” lol. The woman couldn't apologise enough (she's not sorry enough to train them to not to do it though, they always bark at anything that moves). I have to say it again – Scampi kept his cool and Someone Apologised To Me
Well it rained yesterday afternoon and I fell asleep, lol. I'm not making any more plans for the rest of the week, I suppose I can't blame mr tru for the weather, lol, but having him here all week really throws out my routine. So I'll get on with things as and when and see how I end up

Tru well done Scampi!
TA fingers crossed for MrTA
Just having a brew in bed with DH and the cat before jumping into the shower. Got laundry to put onto the airers, another load to go in, recycling to put out and lunch to make (chicken sarnie and a h/m corner yogurt with h/m jam) DH will continue his usual leftovers trawl for his lunch. Roasted peppers stuffed with pilau rice and tandoori chicken & lamb pieces for tea.
