Help my brain (more than my stomach) be more patient in cooking!
I am not lazy but part of the reason I overeat is that food doesnt seem satisfying which is when if someone cooks for me even if they are a far worse cook it tastes good as its complete i.e even something basic like the worst cheapo value burgers and some reheated chips would taste better than me making premium butchers…

How long in advance would you make the following?
Hi, I'm planning on making and freezing some things so I can just defrost, roll and bake nearer Christmas. I also plan to make Oreos dipped in candy melts, how long do you think they would last in a biscuit tin? Thank…

Cooking fish
Hello Don'y know if tis is the right forum. When I cook fish even if I wrap it in foil the kitchen & living room smell of fish for several days after. Sandwich filling ideas
Hi, I'm looking for ideas for sandwich fillings. I usually have ham combinations (e.g. ham and chutney, ham and mustard), but given ham is a processed meat I'm trying to cut down on this. Also our local asda have just got rid of their deli counter! I'm also trying to avoid too much high fat cheese (e.g. cheddar), happy…

Milk in glass bottles
Hello, I just found an article online, from the Telegraph, saying that Dairy Crest are stopping delivery of milk in glass bottles from 2016. I am really upset about this because I hate buying plastic! Can anyone in the London area, preferably SE London, recommend an alternative source of organic milk in glass bottles…

"Robert Peston Goes Shopping"
Just a heads-up. Interesting looking programme on BBC 2 just about to start (18.00 hrs). Robert Peston reveals how shopping in Britain was transformed over the 20th century. This episode charts how shopping was transformed from a chore to be endured in the 1950s into our favourite pastime by the 1980s. Robert also tells…

When do you slice your homebaked bread?
My parents always used to cut a slice of bread off the loaf when they wanted one. I never learnt this fine art, as by the time I was an adult, almost all bread came ready sliced. About two years ago, I bought a breadmaker & a slicing gauge that allows you to slice half the loaf at a time. You turn it round to do the other…

My war on waste!!!
I have watched Hugh's programme and followed the thread on here with interest. I have also been reading Zero Waste blogs where the mantra is 'Pre-cycle, refuse, reduce, reuse, recycle, rot'. I have also often pondered the question of excess packaging and how this can be reduced. So today, I tried an experiment......... I…

Soup-makers?
My DIL is very ill, and although she loves making soup she hasn't got the energy to stand and grate carrots any more. Is there any sort of gadget that takes up little room (she has a tiny kitchen) and will grate or chop up carrots for soup? Or even make the soup?
