sorry not sure where to post this.
can anyone help me? Yesterday I made a birthday cake -madeira using a six egg mixture. It was for girl and thought i would coour it pink. I used some pink liquid food colouring and when i put it in the tin it was a deep shade of pink. When it was cooked 2 hours later it was just cake colour!
does anyone have a clue as to what happened? I have to make another one in 2 weeks so any help would be appreciated.

Liquid food colourings aren't the best thing to use - some aren't bake-stable so will come out a different colour (or no colour at all!) when you bake them. The best thing to use are the paste food colourings. You can get these in supermarkets or online, from ebay or specialist cake decorating shops. These are highly concentrated so you use less, which is less likely to affect the texture of your cake than adding a lot of extra liquid. They tend to give you a stronger, truer colour and generally don't change that much when baked - most generally they tend to go a little darker but not that much.0
