O/S Daily Tuesday 17th November 2015

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Morning everyone

Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x

Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them.

DH up and gone to work stupid early. DS1 now getting ready for work. DS2 still in his pit, will wake him in a bit.

Now getting light, wind seems to have gone, damp underfoot.

Dinner last night was gammon, egg, roasties, peas and baked flat mushrooms with cheese. Tonight menfolk will be having fish, chips and beans, I’ll be having fish, jacket potato and veg.

Work yesterday was a strange day, it started off quite slow but then became very busy and was manic for a while then eased off just in time for us to close. We didn’t have as many staff as normal so that could be the reason why we were run off our feet. Working from the other office today so not so pressurized.

Keep safe and well x

    Morning everyone.

Got back home yesterday and just about fell into bed. My weekend was really good. No more gallivanting now until after winter is done.

Had my eye and contact lens check up yesterday morning, just after having an umbrella poked into my eye. Why people use these blessed things in high winds and driving rain is beyond me, they are lethal on city streets.

Today I only have a haircut st 9.15am planned then I'll catch up with washing from the weekend and deal with some paperwork which has been lingering around too long.

The storm (Barney) is slowly getting going, hope that I get back home before the deluge. I shall be scavenging in the fridge using up bits and pieces.

    Happy Tuesday everyone.
  • Good Morning all Up at silly o'clock this morning ,wide awake ,no idea why.Black as Newgates Knocker atm outside and not looking great weatherwise.

Really enjoyed 'The Lady with the Van' film yesterday with my friend.Maggie Smith may get an Oscar for this.I remember year ago a film with Lucille ball where she played a bag lady but I can't for the life of me remember the name of the film.
I am off to the cinema again this morning, but locally. Our local cinema has a seniors day on a Tuesday so I get a movie,a cuppa tea and a biscuit all for £3.00 Bargain I think ,and its Robert Redford what more could a woman want on a wet Tuesday than Robert Redford and a cuppa & biscuit .Life just gets better :):):)

Tonight is quiz night plus cooked supper so I shall be off gallivanting there as well. What a social butterfly I am this week :):):)

No time to grow old, grumpy and bored :):):)

Tomorrow hopefully I will get some time to get some shopping in,and it will be only my second shop this month :):):)Good job I have plenty of grub in stock for weeks like this.
Hope everyone is OK and not getting to blown about with the high winds.
    Take care

Flying visit from me, very wet here but no high winds.
    Beef casserole for tea.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester
    Chin up, Titus out.
  • Good morning, thank you nmic for starting us off.

Well at least the wind has gone for a while. My goodness I don't like it, always wondering what damage we will find. At least the fences are still standing.

Waiting in for the plumber today to sort the bathroom taps, but not sure whether he is coming today or not. I am going to paint the bath panel which is looking a bit shabby.

I am going to make a cottage pie for this evening and will have it with green beans and carrots.

Elona good news about the bungalow, I hope your offer is accepted, exciting times ahead for you I hope. It is good to have a project on the go as long as you are prepared for the mess:)

Jackie I am so glad your friend had a lovely wedding, despite the weather.

Judi I had to laugh at the video of the boys, most of us have been there haven't we, at least the boys were trying to clean it up.

Hester I hope things are calm in the family and I hope everything goes well for the funeral.

Lyn did you manage to find any stocking fillers yesterday? I know how difficult it is to find small items that are either fun or useful.

Nothing much happeing here so I will wish yu all a good day and sendng hugs if you need or want one

  • Morning all. A more peaceful night last night as the gale force wind had dropped and we could have the bedroom windows open again. I'm sure I sleep better, though it doesn't stop the early morning wakening sadly.

We have Oncology at St James' this morning for Mr TA's appointment with the consultant and his monthly injection. This had to be postponed from last week when we were at the Royal Liverpool. We need to be on the 9.30 train to Leeds so will book a taxi for just turned 9.00. Yesterday the lines to Leeds were flooded and all trains cancelled till 3.00 pm. Lucky we weren't going yesterday!

I am going to a craft fayre with DD tonight in a village on the other side of town. She went last year and said there was some lovely stuff on sale. Hand made candles, smellies and soapy things (similar to Lush) Not cheap of course so must restrain myself!!

I don't know whether it will be lunch in Leeds or back at home. It will depend how late the clinic is running. As usual my bag will be stocked up with drinks, snacks and a book! We have had many appointments there in the last two and a bit years and not once have we been in on time! Everyone is so nice though no-one seems to mind waiting and everybody chats away quite happily to each other.

Have a good day all. Welcome to the newbies and (((((HUGS))))) to those wanting/needing them. LW I hope you manage to sort something out with your allowance. The powers that be have just no idea what upset they cause when changing things. Take care all xx

    Good morning everyone :hello:

It's dry but very windy here this morning although the rain will be arriving sometime mid-morning. I have lots of washing and tumbledrying to do so the house will be warm anyway.

Hubby has gone off to work and the girls are getting ready to go to school. I had a day yesterday when I didn't speak to a single person until the girls came home from school, it was not very nice so I will be ringing my friend today for a chat.

I don't have a clue what to make for tea tonight. I hope my meat order turns up and then we will have lots of choice. I may make a bacon and lentil soup just in case it doesn't arrive today so at least the family will have something nice and warming to eat.

Lamewolf, I live in fear of the day when they stop my DLA too as there is no way I will cope with an assessment for PIP. I honestly don't know what I will do when that happens, it's given me many sleepless nights. I hope you can get through it, I will offer you a paw to hold x

Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx

    Morning All

LW - Very gentle hugs to you. Not sure how it all works but sounds wrong.
TA - Hope today goes smoothly.
Gers - Glad you enjoyed your weekend, hope the weather isn't too cruel.

Last night's wind has calmed but still wet outside. No washing to do today so no worrying about how to dry it.

Going for a cuppa after work with colleagues and then to see The Lady In the Van, JackieO, I hope to enjoy it too. It's cheap Tuesday today at the cinema, half price so that's not too bad.

Nothing much happening here, hope everyone's ok. Take care. XX

[FONT=Verdana, sans-serif]ancientofdays It is good about my tooth :D You were lucky enough not to be here when my dentistry saga was going on a while back.
