To Delivery Saver or Not Delivery Saver, That is the Q
I've been using Tesco's delivery saver for 3 months and my plan runs out on Friday. I've been constructively dismissed from work and am not entitled to JSA so we're on £900 per month. My budget is worked out including the £12 delivery saver per month, but I'm wondering, do you think it would work out cheaper if I got bits…

Canning/preserving question
Hi All, I make my own jams and have a canning pan but I have a glut of peppers and really don't want them to go to waste! Has anyone preserved peppers without pickling them as I don't want them pickled? I have looked on utube and watched various videos on canning green beans and carrots but most people seem to pickle the…

Happens every time, how to stop pastry falling into pie
I have this problem everytime I make steak and kidney pie, attempting to do it correctly tomorrow. I usually make two as everyone loves the pastry top. Ive tried using pie funnels, upturned egg cups, and teacups to keep the pastry up, but no joy - slowly the pastry falls into the gravy. Anybody got any tips, and I can…

Dry vs tinned pulses - which is cheaper?
Your thoughts would be welcomed... I have a mania for buying dried pulses (beans, peas and lentils) because I think they're such good value for money, but hubby says that once we've factored in 4-odd hours of cooking on our induction hob it's cheaper to open a can of pre-cooked ones. I suggested we buy a stainless steel…

Why does Basil keep dying on me?
Help! Why can't I keep the supermarket pots of Basil alive? After a few days, no matter how healthy they look when I buy them, the leaves just shrivel up and die on me. I keep it on the kitchen worktop. I don't overwater, nor do I let it dry out. I use dried Basil in soup recipes, etc but I do like fresh Basil on tomatoes…

confused, how do you use electric blanket?
Hi, I bought an electric blanket for my daughter who can't regulate her temperature, in the hope she'll sleep better. I'm wanting it on throughout the night, not just to pre- heat the bed. I can't see you sleeping directly on top of it becaue the wires would be really uncomfortable, but I'm not sure where to put it? Last…

Gales Honey question
A few months ago I managed to find a 454g jar of Gales honey at B&M at the bargain price of £1 (or thereabouts). I'm assuming it was that price because even though it was dated Aug 14, it had "granulated" (for want of a better word). The granulation doesn't bother me too much as I mostly use honey for baking/cooking…

I froze it as a round ball and have…
