Old style daily thread Saturday 11th January

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Morning All
Quite a good night's sleep which is good as I have lots to do today. Must go to the outdoor shop as I am going to an outdoor centre this week with school for 3 days (not sure how I came to 'volunteer'!).
DD wants to get a mudguard for DS2s bike that she has been using, last time she used it the water was being sprayed right up to the top of her head. Bits of shopping to do for toiletries too.
Must go for a paddle in the cellar to see if I can find a flask, I have got plastic boxes now to store everything in rather than cardboard ones so will give that a big sort out too.
Took my new shopping trolley for a trundle to Ald! yesterday, thought I would be too embarrassed but it was great as I got a little walk (I think it may be quicker than driving) and as the trolley also looks like a bag I can put it on my shoulder when it's empty.
Made sausage casserole with red cabbage last night for tea that was scoffed by both myself and DD, got the housework done and discovered that the shower is leaking into the downstairs bathroom - this house is like a colander!! I will get some shower sealant when I go out and tackle that later too.
Have a good weekend, take care. XX0 -
Good Morning TTFTM and all to follow.
Just finished raining here but I think the forcast is now dry - DS' footie training already been cancelled as fields are like a swamp.
Been enjoying a coffee and a quiet surf as everyone else still in bed.
Not sure of plans for the day - if DS wants to go to the Cinema will do that - in all likely hood he will watch and listen to the football today so I will get on with bits and pieces around the house.
Have some steak in the freezer so will have that with chips, peas and mushrooms tonight.
Have a great Saturday all.x0 -
Good morning everyone
Managed a bit more sleep last night but still woke up at 6am when I wanted to snooze until 7.30. Too much going on in my head at the moment, I wake up thinking about something then I am wide awake and can't get back to sleep. It must be the new job.
Planned to go to Southport for a mooch around but it's pouring down at the moment. BBC and Met Office both promised good weather so not sure if it's about to change. Will get ready so we can leave as soon as/if it looks like it is improving.
DD and GDD may be coming for dinner and to stay tonight but not confirmed yet. As we can't plan, it could be a cheeky takeway or I may get something and freeze half of it if they don't come. I wish they would make their mind up but DD blames GDD and her social life :rotfl:
Well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for those that need or just want them. Keep well, warm and safe and have a super dayLBM 10/1/12 ~ DFW Start 6/2/12: £82,344 ~ Now Zero:staradmin:starmod::staradmin Debt free 17th April 2015 :staradmin:starmod::staradmin

Been raining here but stopped now we are promised a bright sunny day, lets hope they are right OH needs to get on the roof to try and find / fix the leak and I shall hold the bottom of the ladder with my eyes shut ! Hopefully we can fix it and stop the rain getting in the bedroom.
I was asleep before 11 last night so raring to go this morning, have got a wash on the go and another 2 to go in will try and get them on the line today.
We need to try the paint samples out for the wardrobe too, and if we like them go and get bigger tins and start painting.
DD is away till tomorrow so all tidy and quiet here. Must go and check my list and get dinner out of the freezer.0 -

Hope you all have a good one x0 -

Ds had be camping in the living room with him last night, so we was snuggled up in quilts on the blowup bed watching tv and eating marshmellows, must admit though I had quiet a nice sleep.
It looks like we have had some rain in the night .. hopefully it stays dry today cos I've the bedding to dry.
Chicken and mushroom curry with egg fried rice for tea tonight.
Hope you all have a lovely day xG.C July £21.09/£1000 -
Morning chums ,bright and sunny here in North Kent but a bit on the chilly side.
Well I have lots of small jobs to do this morning ,first on the list is to reinstall my printer and put some new cartridges in it. It was uninstalled when the computer chap repaired my computer and I have never got around to putting it back on. Fingers crossed as I am not a techy person:):)
Then I shallmake some leek and potato soup to use up the bendy leeks and sslightly sprouty spud in the veg rack and then I hope to knock the ironing out by lunchtime. That leaves me the afternoon to 'play' or in other words do what ever I fancy.Probably finish off my Ken Follet book so I can take it back on Monday .
Down at the bottom of my garden I have lots of bulbs springing up,I hope they will be ok as its not really been frosty at all yet, just very wet.
<<Hugs for those feeling a bit yuk or sad>>
We are almost half way through January already I look forward to the spring and the lighter evenings.
Have a good day whatever you are doing I am off to battle with the 10 page booklet that came with my printer:):)
Cheers chums JackieO xxx0 -
Morning all
Dry here for a change but rain due tomorrow, I'm taking DGD to the end of the road to see the flood water, it's not dangerous as it's not fast flowing, it's just like a really big puddle.
Hubby has had his breakfast & been dropped at work, DGD & I stopped at the local shop to buy crumpets for her breakfast. The WM & DW are both chugging away, I shan't be able to hang the washing out as the garden is waterlogged, so it will go over maiden.
DGD & I had fun last night, we sorted out all my jewelry, paired up my earrings and threw away some broken bits, DGD now has a small bag of necklaces to take home.
I need to make a batch of ready meals for hubby's lunches & some soup for my lunches.
Cheese toasties for tea tonight & roast pork for lunch tomorrow.
Have a good day everyone
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.0 -
Good morning all,
sunny and dry here - nice!
Off to the cash for clothing place in a bit, bearing the dead shoe mountain from under the stairs, the last of the DSs college clothing and the latest wardrobe casualties.
I'm making lentil soup for the freezer later on, and scratching round to find the stuff we need to use up before DH & I start his diet next week. (OK I mean, OUR diet) So, dinner will be something bad for us....:D.
Heard yesterday that somebody I was scared of in school has died. Strange feeling, remembering being 6 and squashed against a hedge in the rain. Once we moved house it was as if she disappeared even though we were in the same school for quite a long time. RIP.
We played cribbage last night. No change - DH beat me as he can almost smell what card is which. Rematch tonight, unless he wants to play Gin, which I am worse at.
Off to look for some bin bags for the shoes.
Have the best day you can xI can cook and sew, make flowers grow.0 -
Such a beautiful day here. Pity hubby and I had to spoil it by having a row as soon as our eyes opened.
Not much planned for today. Hubby is pricing a job today. Maybe later we can fit in the food shopping if not it will have to be done tomorrow.
luxor4t hubby and I am on a diet too. Well its a sort of 'cut out all the junk out of our diet' sort of diet. We are failing badly. He cleared off to the nearest Te$co express at 10.30 last night just for a couple of chocolate bars.
Oh well, I'd best get moving cause I could sit here all day.
