Does anyone else boil washing on the hob?
Having tried so many ways to get a pair of muddy rugby shorts sparkling white again, I have now resorted to putting them in a pan of water on the hob to boil for a while. I haven't done this for many years and was wondering if anyone else still does this?

does a washing machine really last longer with limescale tabs/powder ?

DH has dropped my Kenwood Stand Mixer!

Broken umbrella?
I have a cheapy umbrella from Primark that blew inside-out and 2 of the strutts broke. It's unrepairable (and only cost £4 new) but the waterproof fabric is very pretty and undamaged. Any ideas of what I could make with the fabric? Pity to waste it!

any tips for drying clothes without using a tumble
