Freezable Healthy Meals

Have gotten into a habit of eating a lot of ready meals and frozen foods. Was wondering if the good people of Old Style would be able to recommend meals that I could cook up on shopping day and just defrost when needed.

Hi
I Freeze the following all the time.
Soups of all kinds
Chilli
Bolognese sauce
Meatballs in tomato sauce
Shepherds pie
Stew
Fish pie
Homemade pizza (I park bake the base add the topping and then freeze)
Curry
Sausage casserole
Chicken casserole
Lasanga
Cannelloli
The easiest way to build up a stock of stuff in the freezer is to get into the habit of making double and freezing half.
I have a supply of empty tubs for freezing one potion sizes of soups stews etc then it is just a case of defrosting and reheating.1 Sealed Pot Challenge # 1480

I too make more than needed when I am cooking and portion up the surplus for the freezer, saves time and energy costs as well.
Its a case of what's not eaten gets frozen:)as virtually anything freezes well My late OH used to call it 'suspended animation ':):)

Loads of bulk batch cooking you can do:
Soups
Stews
Cottage/Shepherd's Pie
Curries
Chillies
Lasagna
Cauliflower Cheese
Pies (fish, meat, vegetarian with potato, crumb or pastry topping)
Make your own meatball, burgers, meat loaf
Make a big portion, eat what you need, freeze the rest.
Basically what ever you buy as a ready meal you can make your own and freeze!Everything has its beauty but not everyone sees it.0 -
I batch cook:
Bolognase (sometimes the spaghetti aswell for a quick ready meal)
Chilli (again can be frozen with rice)
Macaroni cheese (with peas, cauliflower and ham)
Cauliflower cheese (with brocolli if you like)
Curry (again could be frozen with the rice)
Sausage and bean casserole (can add pasta)
Lasagna
You can freeze an awful lot actually! Homemade healthy ready meals0 -
Hi, I second all of the meals mentioned above. Really whatever you buy as a ready meal can be batch cooked.
As in you make a great big batch on your shopping day as you say and then freeze in portions.
Take out of the freezer the night before you want it and pop in the fridge for the following night.0
