O/S Daily Thread Weds 17th October

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 16th October. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning all - no idea why I got up at 6am on my day off. Sister coming today to help with more decluttering. Nearly 2 weeks without a recycling bin - have to chase the council when they open. Got a mound of laundry to get through.

Had a lovely dinner yesterday - lamb steaks, red onion, pepper, sweet potato, olive oil, lemon juice, rosemary and mint. Scrummy and took about 2 minutes to prep the veg.

Have a good day everyone :)

    Morning all

I haven't posted for a little while but I have been reading your updates so I wanted to pop in and say hi!

Horrendous morning here, it's wild. Didn't get much sleep last night because the wind was howling and we could hear the rain pounding on the skylight in the bathroom. Doesn't help that Wednesday always feels like my second Monday morning in the week, because I go to work on Monday and then have Tuesday off and then back to work on Wednesday! It's a strange day off to have.

Hope everyone is well and happy and sending best wishes and positive vibes to those who aren't. Have a good day! :)

    Morning all,

Been raining heavily all night, stopped now, but meant to be getting worse later on. Rubbish and re-cycling been put out this morning.

Off to work for me, dd to college, she has her induction for her 2nd job tonight 5 - 9, she had a bit of a wobble last night about it all, I think she is doing too much, she is working / at college / volunteering 7 days a week atm, and she has a load of homework on top of that. She volunteers at her work two days a week, so I have told her she needs to cut down, she cant do everything, we have an action plan :D oh to be so young and have that energy.

Dinner tonight is something with the two chicken breasts from monday, cant think what yet, maybe some chips ??

Need to do a small wash later, and get it on the airer, no heating on here yet, so having trouble drying clothes.

    Have good days all xx

    Morning everyone

Hugs to those that need/want them that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x

Dull miserable wet and windy here this morning. DH up and off to work stupid early.

Dinner last night was sausages and mash, with veg and onion gravy. Remembered to get the chicken out of the freezer for tonight's chicken casserole, will serve it with potatoes (not decided yet which sort) and veg.

Have a bit of a washing mountain - will make a start on this later - was hoping the weather would improve so it could go out on the line! It's going to be TD or airer I think.

Only working until lunch - am really pleased to see the back of this week, still have sore throat, cold and cough but now starting to feel bit better, and it's always easier to manage at home than trying to struggle on at work I find. Will just do the jobs at my own pace.

Have a good day, stay safe and well x

Morning all, damp and windy here too, kitten and dog walked and fed, kitten is now having fun playing with a plastic carrier bag, wish I could be so easily amused!!!!! Off to school in a while. Moorhen good luck with your observation, I know how you feel it's constant pressure, I so want to retire. Well DD went for the interview and the woman was very impressed with her and would have given her a permanent job, BUT there was no way DD could get there every day as there was no public transport and as yet she doesn't drive:( She is trying every avenue, I think she is going to apply to the shops in Cardiff as she get there on the train and they're recruiting for Xmas.
Hugs to all in need, Monnagran hope your back is better, enjoy your patchwork class, beware you may become addicted like me, I started about a year ago and love it.Hope all the poorlies are better and have a good day all :)
Huge hugs ((((Molly ))))wish I could wave a wand and make it all better.

    Morning everyone,

Molly Much love and many hugs for you. I wish that I could leap out of the computer screen and give you a real hug. Hope that things get better for you soon.

Miffy Thanks for the good wishes. Unfortunately retirement isn't an option for me as I am only 48!

    Have a lovely day everyone.:)

Good Morning all and big <<hugs>> to all who are feeling down and poorly. We are always here for you to unload on.
DD has the day off today so she is taking me out to lunch and possibly the cinema for a treat(I think it will probably be a spooky one but I'm not fussed as its a day out :))
Wet 'n'windy overnight and very damp looking at the moment I too was up at silly o'clock on my day off, daft really but I'm just not a person who finds lying in easy.Once my eyes are open I'm up as I always seem to have so much to do and not enough time to do it .I'm not very good at relaxing at all. After about 10 minutes I get fidgety :) I'm dreadful on the beach ,ten minutes and I want to be doing something.
Still good job we're not all alike.
Just going to have a shower, wash my hair and have some breakfast.I'm still staying away from the shops so saving myself a fortune as I'm not being tempted to spend .
Have a great day everyone whatever you are doing
    Cheers chums

Good luck Moorhen - we are rooting for you :T:T:T
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.
