OS Daily - Tuesday 16th October 2012
Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 16th October. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Dull miserable and windy here this morning. Washing I put out on the line yesterday morning is still there, it started to rain 5 minutes after I arrived at work and then rained on and off for most of the day, will see if it drys today. DH up and off to work stupid early.
Dinner last night was smoked sausage pasta, clean plates all round. Tonight will be sausages and mash, with veg and onion gravy.
Work turned into a manic Monday although was very quiet until late morning, then was just relentless but we managed to see everyone by 3.40pm ish so had time to get sorted before the close of business. We'll see what today brings!
Throat feels a bit better but have really annoying cough every now and then - have some meds that will hopefully help - but don't actually feel too bad in myself.
Last full day at work of my paid working week, I always like Tuesdays as once I'm home I know I only have half a day tomorrow then I'm off until Monday! Have the normal list of chores to be done on my days' off this week due to not getting stuff done last week and we're going away again next week - so must be productive this week!
Have a good day, stay safe and well x

Morning nmlc and sisitercas and all who follow. Wow that's a long shift sistercas, hope you feel better later. It must be catching because I'm having trouble sleeping too, keep waking up and stewing over things. Damp and dull here today, dog and cat walked and fed so both off for a snooze, nice life:) Off to school in a minute, boss is out on a course for the morning so we can all be naughty:rotfl:
DD will cook gammon for tea, she has a stinky cold and has to go to a town some way away to find out about some work experience, luckily her friend is taking her because it would take hours on the bus. Just wish someone would give her a job, she is a very hard worker and so wants to work.
Hugs to all in need , hope Lou and family are well, hope DS is ok today Bitsy. Taplady hope DH's dad is recovering well.Good luck to your DD sistercas Have a good day all.:)£180.00 in 'sistercas'fund
Hope is like the sun, which, as we journey toward it, casts the shadow of our burden behind us.

Morning all,
Nice bright day here, with a good breeze, might wash the heavy throw from the sofa this morning.
Need to drop dd at work then home, must do an online shop and give upstairs a good going over, did downstairs yesterday so not too bad. I must also start some ebay listings off, which I never got round to at the weekend.
Dinner tonight is meat pie, cauli and broc cheese (from yesterday), mash and cabbage.
Miffy I hope your dd can get herself sorted with a job, it took my dd about 2 years to get hers, she started volunteering with them at first and then they offered her a job, is there anywhere your dd can volunteer ?
Have good days all xx
Tappers hope your FIL is ok xx0 -
Morning everyone,
Sistercas good luck to DD
Tappers Get well soon to FIL
We were told yesterday at school that we are going to be observed by senior management and deputy heads from another school in a lesson on thursday. It would be lovely just for a while to be trusted to get on with our jobs. I have been teaching for more than 25 years and have never felt so much under watch.
Sorry, rant over.
Car has gone to the garage for its MOT this morning so fingers crossed for that.
Have a lovely day everyone.:)0 -
Morning All
Well, after such a glorious day yesterday it is pouring down! I was going to go for another walk today but will have to do housework instead!!
I am going to go into the study where I have been stashing all the christmas pressies and sort them out (is it too soon to wrap them?). Apart from that not sure what's happening today, oh apart from making soup.
Taplady - Hope FIL makes a speedy recovery.
FB - Get well soon.
Take care. XX0 -
Morning :hello:
I've just weighed myself, I've lost 2lb :j I'm very surprised, last week started well (granary rolls, salad etc) but ended badly (fish & chips and pasties)
Floss I wondered if the water had anything to do with the dermatitis but I think it would have affected more than just my hands? We were out and about a lot so I think it's down to the liquid soap in public loos.
Not much to report today, apart from the massive pile of washing. It should dry quickly, it's very windy here.Bulletproof0 -
Good morning,
It's wet blustery and cold here feels very wintry.
Tea last night was good. I have at least half a joint of gammon to use up. Will probably do a ham and cheese pasta bake and a pea and ham soup. Gave mum half the fruit cake to take home so that dh isn't tempted to eat it all. I don't eat fruit cake.
Once they had left we did our usual walk and have added some press ups and weights to my routine to try and get rid of my bingo wings.
Out with dh this morning. Have lots of eBay listings ending today and most have good bids on:T
I'm another one who needs to sort and wrap all the presents I've been buying. Just been throwing them all in the bottom of the wardrobe so need a sort out.
Have ordered some swim leggings for my hols. They are leggings for swimming in. Even though my legs are much slimmer will feel happier on the beach with them covered so worth every penny for me. I love body boarding but hate feeling self conscious.
Tea tonight will be salad with lamb chops for the boys and fish for me.
Well better get on, hugs for the poorlies and fingers crossed for the all the job hunters xStarted Self Managed DMP 10th May 2017.
Working hard to get rid of our debt.0 -
morning all!
Had a call from fil's partner and he's had a good night.:) The first 24 hours are critical apparently - if all is well he'll be moved to a different ward then.
Plans for today are decluttering and odd jobs plus I want to get my paints out later:) and also start a new library book - all exciting stuff here:D
I've taken some pasta bake out of the freezer for tea.
Its very windy here so the washing will be hung outside shortly plus more done.
Ironing to be done too - will put radio 4 extra on and listen to a story while I do it:)
Sistercas - good luck to your DD x
Tru - well done on the weight loss:T
Flutterby - hope you're feeling better today x
Have a great day all xDo what you love :happyhear0
