    Morning all,
Horrible day here ,wet & wild.We are still having problems with our broadband(very intermittent) and house phone so hope I dont lose this.Sorry if I've missed anything but its been hard to keep up,so I'll just send hugs and get wells to those in need.

H and Ds ended up coming home yesterday as they couldnt start on a job.Perhaps just as well as DS2 has a horrible cold and spent the day wrapped up shivering, dosed up.He's not streaming as much this morning.

DH has been trimming the shrubs and trees for a few days, thre is still a pile of stuff on the grass, but discovered yesterday that a big horse chestnut seems to be diseased, the bark is splitting off.He pulled at a bit and a chunk came away & there were a load of slugs and worms underneath, uuugh. He's rung the council, we thought it's protected, but its not-they said get a tree surgeon up,so someones coming to look.Gawd knows how much that'll be
Making sweet potato & feta quesadillas for tea-a GoodFood recipe. You can prepare most in advance so the pots are baking in the Remoska now.Not tried it before so hope they like it.

Still trying to get rooms back to normal after carpet/suite cleaning & decorating. We swapped the living room & conservatory suites round,so I need to make some new cushions for the con.one.The rug in there looks awful now,its brown/beige/rust,the suite is grey-might just remove it for now.Its a bit chilly in there now unless the heating s on,& dont see the point in turning it on in there for the sake of a couple of hours. It warms up nicely if the sun shines in the afternoon, but we've not had much of that here:mad:.
Can't decorate the living room yet as we are putting 2 windows in the gable wall,in a bid to increase the light, its been so gloomy this year.It doesnt help that the school grounds next door are getting really overgrown, meant to be a wildlife garden, jungle more like, loads of saplings are growing quite tall,we cant even see sky out of one window, and they never do anything with them :(.They must have grown 6ft this year, and they weren't even there when the house was built 6 years ago :eek:They dont mind if you go and chop bits down, but we have our work cut out keeping our own garden under control.

On a brighter note :),tomorrow I am meeting my old school friend who moved back to this side of the Pennines for coffee ,not seen her since she moved in early September. Also my neighbour is taking me for lunch next week as she won a meal for 2 in a comp and the voucher runs out soon.

Lou,hope baby Jacob is getting on well and you are recovering.
Taplady-get well soon to your FIL.
    Have nice days all x

  • Good morning everyone :)

Very wet and blustery here and leaves everywhere. I want to go for a walk to see the Autumn colours at the weekend but at this rate, the leaves may all be gone by then.

Cooked another piece of pulled pork last night but I think I have gone a bit mad with the size of the joint and we may be eating it for every meal all week. It does work out at less than £1 per meal for 2 greedy adults so it's great value, I just need to make sure I don't run out of ideas for recipes to use it up.

One Christmas scarf gift now completed while watching Downton Abbey last night on catch up but I had to put the scarf down in case it got wet, that was a very sad episode. I watched the final episode of A Good Cop too and I rather liked the inconclusiveness of it, I think it was left to the imagination what happened to him. Have found a pattern for some crochet jewellery and have some crochet cotton and lots of beads so may give that a go over the next week or two, as little stocking fillers for DD and DGD.

Break is over and I need to get some work done. Well wishes to all sick people and pets and hugs for those who need them or just want one. Have a super day and keep safe :)

Morning nmlc and sisitercas and all who follow. Wow that's a long shift sistercas, hope you feel better later. It must be catching because I'm having trouble sleeping too, keep waking up and stewing over things. Damp and dull here today, dog and cat walked and fed so both off for a snooze, nice life:) Off to school in a minute, boss is out on a course for the morning so we can all be naughty:rotfl:
DD will cook gammon for tea, she has a stinky cold and has to go to a town some way away to find out about some work experience, luckily her friend is taking her because it would take hours on the bus. Just wish someone would give her a job, she is a very hard worker and so wants to work.
Hugs to all in need , hope Lou and family are well, hope DS is ok today Bitsy. Taplady hope DH's dad is recovering well.Good luck to your DD sistercas Have a good day all.:)

DD2 said there are xmas jobs at debenhams where she works , is there a debs near you or other dept store , presumably they will be looking to add more staff for xmas , DD was lucky as she got a permanent contract , but she says they do sometimes extend the contract of some ofthe xmas workers , its so hard for them to get a foot in the door RR s advice is good , volunteering may just get her noticed - hope she finds something soon xx

That sounds interesting - can you tell us any more? I'd like to learn to crochet, and I love jewellery, so it's something I'd be very interested to do.:o

Where is everybody to-day?? I haven't got onto the first page for years!

Cold but sunny here, can't seem to put my tights on in such a way that they don't end up looking like Norah Batty's after half an hour, so still wearing fittflops and finding that my poor little piggies are feeling the cold...this is a new problem so wondering why its happening.

Having lamb again for dinner to-day, with french beans and spuds...might have some of the soup I made the other day too, OH won't have soup so he will just have to eat more spuds to fill up.

Still knitting like a madwoman to get blankets done for Christmas....will be using rug wool for last couple if I can't get a move on!

Went to see cousin in hospital last night, she seems to be covered in bruises and says that while not in pain she is so tired that all she wants to do is sleep. She has heart problems and is also on chemotherapy for lung cancer, not sure what prognosis is, she doesn't seem to want to talk about it so didn't press her...don't really like the vibes at all so will be popping in and out for a few mins at a time.

Had a nasty letter from council this am, telling me that I had not paid my house tax which I did in May, turns out they have wrong address for house....we are just townland, no number and at a spot where 3 townlands join so they had the wrong one, has now been checked and all in well...this is a new tax at only €100 per year but lots of people have refused to pay it for various reasons, so they are going after everyone they can...not got me this time though as I am too much of a scaredycat to not pay when asked!

Hugs to all who are under the weather, that time of year isn't it...take care

    Afternoon all
Beautiful here if a bit chilly with a fierce wind and I have just brought the washing in, four loads done and dried today yeah!
It is supposed to be very wet tomorrow so I had a good hunt around and got as much done as I could.
Went round the co-op and they are reducing prices right left and centre mainly because they are moving to a new larger store over the road from them in December.
I got Bisto turkey granules for 58p, really lazy caramelised onions for £1 plus lazy garlic and ginger for 79p two large boxes of stuffing for 52p a box Anti freeze was £1.30 and four bottles of Lambrusco for £1.76 a bottle. They were still reducing when I left so I am going to go around at about 7pm to see if there are any more bargains.
We are going to B&M in Bletchley tomorrow with the outlaws, might even pop into Sports Direct and TK Maximus as well, I have a couple more presents to get and I am ready for Christmas :j
Mind you have you seen the price of turkeys this year  I am glad I got mine when they reduced them after Easter.
Healing vibes for LW, Molly, Flutterby, Marie's cousin and all who need them not forgetting darling Maud x
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

Marie have a look online for fitflop boots, I treated myself a year or so ago, they are not cheap, but sooooo comfortable, so worth the expense for me.

Best wishes for your cousin xx

Chilly here today, work was very busy so now I'm home I'm snuggled under my quilt doing some crochet.
    Have a good afternoon everyone
    hugs Hester

Thanks for the well wishes, I'm still feeling rough though, but hopefully over the worse!

Work was brilliant today, work kids started putting the plastic bottles on the greenhouse frame, and by the time I left at 2pm we had done the 2 sides and back, plus they were finishing off the roof. It has flown up! Hoping to finish tomorrow (day early) so I can take them on a treat day as a reward :)

I left early as I had a hospital appt re my vertigo. I was fully expecting them to say sorry but you are just gonna have to live with it, but turns out I need to have a smallish operation  I have fluid filled sacs in my sinus space. They will only get bigger so they want to drain both. They don't think it will cure my vertigo as such, but it may cure some of the associated problems I'm having such as constant blocked or runny nose/sinusitis/headaches etc, which may alliviate some of the vertigo as I tend to get it most when I'm suffering one of the other things. It's an endoscopic surgery, but will be under general anaesthetic, and I'll need 1-2wks off work. Prob won't be for a few months yet.

No plans tonight, just resting up to feel better.

OS wise - made packed lunch, got some YS bargains in Tesco on my way home (Pizza Express pizza for £1, choc cake for 39p, 2 x packs of Fudge cakebars for 15p/pack :D )

    Have a good night all
