Creme Brulee for 8
I'm having family for dinner the Friday before Christmas and am planning my menu (yes I know it's a bit sad thinking about it now:o) I like to offer 2 or 3 desserts and we normally share the left overs with my parents the following day (as this is Christmas Eve it will work out quite well). Anyway as one of the desserts I…

Asda frying chips
Hope this is the right thread. I must have had a blonde moment and in error bought the wrong thing! Can I cook frying chips in the oven or can they only be done in the in the frier? I don't want to have to throw them out but really prefer oven chips. They are crinkle cut and seem to have some sort of glaze if this makes…

1930s cheerful music for the new depression
Now that we seem to be going into a depression (we even have a Roosevelt style public works programme announced by the government!) I thought OSers might like to know some good cheer-up music from the last depression. They knew how to write good songs to make you feel better in those days. It's all free on Youtube. Here's…

Does Jim Beam Bourbon go off
Hello This is not something I normally buy and to be honest just got it for my Pecan Pie recipe. Only used 3 caps full. :D So now the real question comes there is no expiration date on the bottle so does this stuff have an expiration date? Normally drink wine so haven't got a clue.... Thanks NewStart09

Cooking time needed for a mini xmas cake...
I usually make a xmas using a 20cm round tin and bake it for 45 mins on gas mark 2 then turn down to gas mark 1 and bake for 1 hour and 45 mins and it always turns out lovely. I decided in my wisdom to make mini xmas cakes this year and i made my cake and put in a mini cake tin (i will have to cook each cake separate as i…

Panasonic Breadmaker Pan
I came home tonight to find that my girlfriend had removed a loaf of bread from our new SD-2500WXC with a knife, and has scratched through the non stick coating in several places. The replacement part is £70, however I notice that the pans for the older models are significantly cheaper and look to be exactly the same size…

What are peoples thoughts on putting more sliced mushrooms in it with lots of chicken and putting it into a pie. Would I put raw chicken in it or cooked leftovers.

does anyone know what this is?
Hi! In our kitchen we've got this metal thing in the wall. It's on the back of the chimney breast. The 'fire place' is in the livingroom, it's got a backboiler and gas fire in the fire place now but obviously in the good old days it was a normal coal fire. We're currently thinking of what to go for when we need to replace…

I'm hoping someone might have an idea. I bought freeze dried lemongrass in my online shop, as it was all they had, hoping to make a thai curry paste tonight but it's obviously hard and dried, so does anyone know how I can make it suitable to be blended into a curry paste? Hope that makes sense!

Are these any good to use alongside a halogen oven?
Hello :) Cooker packed up yesterday (while my boyfriend was lovingly cooking me a beef and lamb stew - a once in a lifetime thing!!:mad: I think it was a conspiracy!) and I'm far too poor right now to get it fixed. It'll be cheaper for me to just buy a second hand one eventually, but in the meantime, boyfriend's dad…
